Librarians’ Generation And Social Media Adoption In Selected Academic Libraries In Southwestern, Nigeria, Adebowale Jeremy Adetayo, Olajumoke Williams-Ilemobola

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

The emergence of social media has sparked a lot of interest in academic libraries especially in the area of adoption. However, there appears to be limited knowledge on whether librarians’ generation differs in the adoption levels of social media specifically in the Southwestern, Nigeria. In a bid to carrying out this focus, this study adopted the descriptive survey design. The population comprised seventy-nine (79) librarians from eight academic libraries. The total enumeration sampling technique was used to study all respondents for the study. A self-structured questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection. Data gathered were analysed using descriptive (frequency, …

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

The literature surrounding student usage of academic libraries often relies upon generational cohort classifications when discussing patterns and preferences. We analyzed the most recent data available at [University] Libraries to determine whether any statistical significance could be attributed to these generational cohort classifications. We found that no significance could be attributed to generational cohorts that could not also be accounted for by other factors, bringing into question the importance of alleged generational differences when making decisions within academic library practice and policy.

Utilization And Refinement Of Standard Curation Models, Max Eckard, Jonathan P. Leidig

Scholarly Papers and Articles

The OAIS and Curation Lifecycle Model provide widely accepted models for curation workflows. However, primary and scientific research often produces content in a manner incompatible with the lack of emphasis these models place on integrating curation-supporting activities in early stages within a scientific workflow. Pre-ingest modules are needed in both models to enable curation of complex, domainspecific content during generation processes.

The researchers adopted a survey design for the study and five areas of the people’s cultural …
