Self-Protection In Cyberspace: Assessing The Processual Relationship Between Thoughtfully Reflective Decision Making, Protection Motivation Theory, Cyber Hygiene, And Victimization, C. Jordan Howell
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
The current study, using structural equation modeling, assesses the processual relationship between thoughtfully reflective decision making (TRDM), theoretical constructs derived from protection motivation theory (PMT), cyber hygiene, and online victimization to determine the cognitive decision-making process that leads to the adoption of online self-protective behaviors, which reduces the occurrence of victimization experiences. Findings, derived from a general sample of Internet users in the United States, reveal: (1) engagement in cyber hygiene practices, as a form of target hardening, decreases Internet users’ experiences with online victimization; (2) thoughtfully reflective decision makers, in the face of cyber threats, develop higher threat appraisals …

Critical Information Literacy: A Model For Transdisciplinary Research In Behavioral Sciences, Claudia J. Dold
Critical Information Literacy: A Model For Transdisciplinary Research In Behavioral Sciences, Claudia J. Dold
Academic Services Faculty and Staff Publications
Librarians are instrumental in advancing the education of students and orienting tomorrow's professions toward the world in which they will practice: rich in information, diverse in perspective, and latent with the opportunities for transdisciplinary research. Critical information literacy offers a model for orienting theory and practice to create an integrated learning experience for students in the behavioral health sciences. This paper examines how different disciplines may be included in a shared problem, using psychopathy as an example. The role of the librarian is discussed in terms of critical information literacy, as a means to conducting transdisciplinary research.
Evaluating Scholarly Book Publishers—A Case Study In The Field Of Journalism., Tina M. Neville, Deborah Boran Henry
Evaluating Scholarly Book Publishers—A Case Study In The Field Of Journalism., Tina M. Neville, Deborah Boran Henry
USF St. Petersburg campus Faculty Publications
By adapting multiple metrics used for journal article evaluation and replicating recent publisher metrics, the authors tested methods for evaluating scholarly book publishers. Using monographs published in journalism between 2007 and 2011 as a test case, results indicate these methods may be useful to other scholarly disciplines.

In June 2003, Winifred S. “Winnie” Foster donated a collection of clippings, photographs, and archival materials that document her involvement in local civil liberties activities and the development of commercial activities at the Central Plaza Shopping Center. Born in 1927, Winnie grew up in a Quaker home environment. She and other farm girls in rural Ohio often made clothes from feed sacks. As she came of age, she embraced the Quaker tradition of pacifism and commitment for equality. She and her husband, also a Quaker, moved to Rhode Island and supported liberal causes. Like many of her generation, she was …

Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.--Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Letter from Birmingham Jail, April 16, 1963. That detention can turn into a horror like that at Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison is hard to fathom, but incarceration of any sort always seems to exist on the edge of sanity, ready to transmute into grim, even fatal, encounters.[sup1] The inhumane treatment of prisoners in Iraq or Afghanistan is emblematic of the worst sort of pendulum swing …
