At Cleveland State University, the library collaborates with faculty and departments on projects such as:
- capturing and sharing conferences;
- publishing scholarly journals; and
- creating and disseminating open educational resources.
These endeavors have led to additional opportunities in other areas, such as working with students and with the greater Cleveland community. In this webinar, Barbara Loomis, Project Coordinator, Marsha Miles, Digital Initiatives Librarian, and Theresa Nawalaniec, Sciences and Engineering Librarian, at Cleveland State’s Michael Schwartz Library will discuss their work with faculty and departments and the other projects that these have often led to.

Open Educational Resources (OERs) are gaining traction as students and faculty search for affordable, open access alternatives for learning resources. With the rising costs of tuition and textbooks, Open Educational Resources (OERs) are becoming increasingly important. The university library, in collaboration with faculty, is a natural leader of OER initiatives at institutions of higher education. Cleveland State University’s Michael Schwartz Library embraced this leadership role by assisting a faculty member with developing an OER, which involved balancing the workload between librarians and the faculty member, determining successful modes of communication, taking advantage of graphic design skills, and more. The success of this initial collaboration has led the Library to expand its support of OER initiatives on campus.
