Women Power Connect Obituary Mrinal Gore: Vibhuti Patel, Professor Vibhuti Patel
Professor Vibhuti Patel
On 17th July 2012, Mrinal Gore passed away. With her demise, an era of women freedom fighters with feminist sensitivities in praxis is over. Lucas S. Osborn
Gone are the days when the term “offer” is confined to first-year contracts courses and the intricacies of contract formation. The offer concept has quietly migrated throughout the law. It now regulates behavior in areas as diverse as criminal law, environmental law, securities law, and intellectual property law. Despite its wide diffusion, the offer concept remains largely unstudied as a legal concept outside of its contract-law environment. This Article begins to fill that gap. The Article begins by deconstructing the meaning of a traditional contract-law “offer” to determine its policy role in contract law, and then compares that role with …

Textiles and Clothing (T&C) is a critically important sector of international trade for developing countries and least developed countries (LDCs). The T&C sector engages abundant labour resources and requires low investment threshold. The T&C sector has been a contentious area in multilateral trade negotiations. With the expiration of quotas in 2005, many T&C dependent countries are experiencing considerable adjustment challenges. Pakistan is one such country that is extensively reliant on T&C industries. This research note presents a brief case study which looks at post-quota developments in Pakistan's T&C trade and the trade and economic policy issues it raises.
