The purpose of this research is to develop a comprehensive framework for monitoring Cameroon's compliance with the right to safe and potable water. The research seeks to sketch out the basis of the right in international human rights law; develop the scope and normative content of the right; identify its minimum core content and states minimum core obligations; and in light of the preceding analysis, determines whether the State of Cameroon is moving expeditiously and effectively toward the goal of full implementation. The focus of this paper is to determine how Americans are to achieve justice for the descendents of slavery and survivors of involuntary servitude. Some of the concepts and models that will be used to make such a determination include transitional justice, pertinent United States documents that have rooted the ideals of justice in American society, and truth and reconciliation commissions. In addition to discussing why truth and reconciliation commissions are used today, two examples will be cited that highlight the reasons these processes will not work in an American social political context. Adversarial Or Inquisitorial: Which Approach Is Closer To Arbitration?, Ahmed Galal Zaki

Adversarial techniques such as pre-trial discovery of documents, cross-examination, and lengthy oral pleadings are now in vogue in the conduct of international commercial arbitration proceedings. This paper responds to this trend by analyzing both the adversarial and the inquisitorial systems in an attempt to demonstrate which is more fulfilling to the objectives of international commercial arbitration. These objectives are party autonomy, neutrality, efficiency, flexibility, and confidentiality. In the finale, the paper provides that although the adversarial system is in line with the autonomy rights of those who opt for arbitration, its inquisitorial counterpart is more neutral, efficient, flexible, and confidential. …

This work attempts to explore the normalized state of emergency in Egypt. For more than two decades, Egypt has existed under the control of emergency legislation designed to curb civil and political rights. This work examines the current state of emergency within the framework of socio-economic, philosophy, and Egyptian history in order to assess the rationale of its raison d'etre.

Banking Stability And Optimal Deposit Insurance Design, Yasmine Hamdi Moukhtar

This thesis focuses on deposit insurance schemes and their relationship to banking crisis. The empirical model used covers 55 developed and developing countries over the period 1970-1989. This study finds that banking crises are closely linked to adverse macroeconomics shocks like economic recessions, financial liberalization, capital account liberalization and short term capital flows, and currency depreciation. External vulnerability (expressed as the ratio of M2 to foreign reserve) is also found to be a key variable. The empirical results also show that deposit insurance increases the probability of banking crises, due to induced moral hazard and adverse selection.
