The study compares two different classroom management strategies in a 5th and 6th grade classroom using an iPad based intervention. The students participated in 10 sessions of a language and grammar intervention on the Moby Max program. During five of the sessions, the teacher actively monitored the classroom, walking around the room, and redirecting students as necessary. For the other five sessions, the teacher used data from the intervention and monitored and redirected students from her computer screen. The data collected included the number of corrections given to each student by the teacher, the number of minutes the program considered …

The policies of the environment-based education movement are benefiting teachers and students participating in several model programs operating in the United States. Place-centered learning enhances the interdisciplinary practice of Essential Academic Learning Requirements, and actively engages students in local issues. The study of cultural landscapes encourages a sense of place within the Lower Columbia River Gorge, and fosters student connections with the Dalles Mountain Ranch. Policy recommendations are made for environment-based learning in Washington State's public schools. The materials created introduce intermediate elementary level children to a selected basic energy vocabulary and to concepts of energy-environment inter-relations. The approach is multi-dimensional, employing a slide tape presentation, posters, charts, and vocabulary cards. Energy concepts and vocabulary are repeated through the various media forms as a means to reinforce learning. The content tone is deliberately positive so that in the process of gaining knowledge about energy issues, children will feel successful, encouraging further achievement in the area of energy education.

This paper presents a sample of the proceedures utilized to produce a video tape recorded suppliment for use in teaching electrical tuned circuit theory. It is designed so that it could be used as a ready reference for anyone desiring to make a video tape recorded teaching aid. A recomendation is that, with the advent of the simplified video tape recorder, every teacher should become as practiced in its operation and utilization as he now is with the film projector.

For this study, two groups of students were exposed to two different sets of self-instructions using a linear and broadview format. Each student was then asked to demonstrate, without the aid of instructions, operation of three machines selected by a laboratory assistant. Information regarding staff, budget, facilities, equipment, materials and services provided by the media programs of the public schools within the Estacada Union High School District was not available. The problem was to gather data on each specific item and present it in a usable manner. The purpose of this study was to determine the weaknesses that could be identified by comparing the quantitative elements of the media programs available in the individual school with evaluative criteria provided by the requirements and recommendations of state and national media standards.

Educators recognize the contributions motion picture films make in the classroom learning situation. However, the problem of determining budget expenditures necessitates a continual evaluation of the utility of specific equipment. This study was an attempt to ascertain the past and future preferences for eight millimeter and sixteen millimeter motion picture projectors. For purposes of this investigation, the following null hypothesis was used: Given a hypothetical grant, there would be no significant difference in preference for purchasing eight millimeter motion picture projectors over sixteen millimeter motion picture projectors by first-class school districts in the state of Washington.

This study compares the golf skills of a class viewing its own videotape replays to those of a class who was videotaped but did not view the replays. All other relevant variables were equalized between the two groups. In addition, a test was made of the attitudes of the experimental group toward videotape as a learning aid, and finally, an attempt was made to reduce the number of trials necessary in the post-test, in order to make the test more functional.

At the present time in the State of Washington, there are no reports with detailed information about the number of secondary schools using closed circuit television, nor is there information on the type of equipment or its use in existing closed circuit television facilities. The purpose of this study was to examine the methods used by three school districts--a small district, a medium-sized district, and a larger district--which have set up centralized technical services for the organization of learning resource materials, thereby relieving the individual librarian within the buildings of certain necessary, but time-consuming tasks. These methods will be set down herein and studied with the possibility in mind that districts which do not now provide these services may find some suggestions to consider in deciding upon the feasibility of such services.

This study is concerned exclusively with offensive and defensive leg wrestling. The maneuvers included in such an instructional film should have a wide enough range to be used in a high school physical education program or in varsity college wrestling. The problems of this study were first, to determine the moves, counters, and drills used in effective leg wrestling that were taught by leading coaches, and second, to present these moves, counters, and drills in action film with a comprehensive printed description and analysis of these moves.

This is a study to determine if beginning golf students who view a videotape replay of themselves practicing a full swinging golf shot with an instructor's critique will improve their golf performance skills significantly more than students whose full swinging golf shot is videotaped but who are not exposed to a videotape replay of their performance; however, they were provided an instructor's critique.
