The life of Athena Malapanis Theokas provides insight into the world of Greek immigrants in America during the early 1900s. Her own recollections and her family’s memories of her trip to America, her jobs in mills, the Greek community and her family’s struggle during the Depression are described, not simply as a story of one woman overcoming challenges.
