West Side News
West Side News was a weekly newspaper published by the Wright Brothers. This paper, published in March 1889 through May of 1890, featured news from the west side of Dayton. The front page of this issue features anecdotes about a Quaker barber and a parson, a sculptor and a critic, and a story about the attempting to fly the hot air balloon "Horla" to a height of five miles. Also included in this issue are national news, local news, humorous stories, and advertisements.

Milton Wright Diaries
Bishop Milton Wright, father of Wilbur and Orville Wright, regularly recorded entries in his diary from 1857 until his death in 1917. This diary’s entries began on January 1889 and continue until December 1889. Wright records a variety of information regarding his travels, family history, and expenditures. Of particular note, this diary includes a record of Orville Wright begins the publication of the West Side News, and Susan Koerner Wright dies at the age of 58 on July 4th. A scanned version of volume 1, number 1 of The Oldtown Monthly for March, 1875. The text indicates that it was to be "published monthly" by S. Bradbury, M.D., in Oldtown, Maine, but this is the only issue in the collections at Raymond H. Fogler Library. As of 2017, no other libraries indicate holdings in national catalogs, so this may be the only issue ever produced.
