Teaching Skills Study Awards (TSSA) Reports

The primary goals of participating in this conference were to enhance my teaching skills by:

1) exploring emerging tools and instructional strategies to develop adaptive learning; and

2) more specifically, investigating ways to develop personalized learning, micro-learning, and gamification using various adaptive technology tools and learning analytics.

This provided an opportunity for me to improve my understanding of theoretical models and practical guidelines for the developing adaptive online learning course activities that facilitate increase students’ engagement and motivation.

This publication provides a summary of the experience and application of the Certification Course, Effective Teaching Practices: Cohort C, Fall 2019 – Spring 2020, offered by California State University San Bernardino (CSUSB). The course, developed by the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) was offered by the Teaching Resource Center (TRC) at CSUSB. It consisted of 25 modules and it was mostly delivered in an online setting. SCIPP redefines and expands the existing notions about what makes for a vibrant and robust community of practice by partnering CSUSB students and professors with K-12 students, parents, and educators, along with committed community partners. SCIPP encourages curiosity in ways that leads to critical thinking, exploration, "risk taking", confidence building, open-mindedness, and other personal traits that equip them with the softskills to be active, critical, and creative contributors to our communities.
