Résumé, Fred G. Leebron
Résumé, Fred G. Leebron
English Faculty Publications
I sat at the back of a pale classroom and watched my father teach. "Creative Inspiration," my father lectured, "is what you have as soon as you are born and the doctor slaps you on your bottom. That first cry, because you're hungry or tired or just glad to be breathing, is your first creative inspiration." I leaned back in my chair to ease the heat rising in my face. "Incidentally," my father said, grinning at the under graduates, "I've read the Sexual Harassment pamphlet, and I want you all to know I don't slap bottoms." [excerpt]

The Promethean
After just finishing this issue of The Promethean, the same nagging feeling reduces me to simple frustration: I know that there are potential witers out there who have thought about contributing but have not. It is not only that I value each piece submitted, but it is because I know that people are moved by and enjoy reading the works of others.
For instance, I'm willing to believe that Amy Westlund's "Homecoming" will stir the thoughts of those who have been lucky enough to travel and rouse a sense of curiousity in those who have not. Hidden meanings and not …

Nexus Literary Journal
Nexus is a magazine that began as an insert in the Wright State Guardian student newspaper in 1965 and has since been published semi-regularly. It began only accepting creative writing, but has since expanded to include illustrations, photography and other non-written art forms. Today, it is published in a digital format and accepts submissions from around the country, though it maintains its commitment to the Wright State Community.

The Promethean
When given a full page on which to write freely, one should should always pick up a pen and begin, and I, luckily, have been given this page. Only the reader can decide if what I have written is thoughtful and important.
This is the third issue of a journal which has yet to realize its full potential. Improvements have been made, and they will always be necessary as we strive for (near) perfection.
To realize this goal, everyone must contribute; submissions must be made (from both on and off campus); support must be offered. When this is done, the …
Behind The Scenes, Gary Schneider
Behind The Scenes, Gary Schneider
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
"Behind The Scenes" is a creative, non-fiction thesis that delights and amazes the reader from behind the scenes of a funeral home. Often, funeral homes and funeral directors are criticized via newspapers, television broadcasts, and magazine articles. But, seldom is a reader allowed to enjoy tales from a funeral director's perspective.
So, Gary Schneider, a licensed funeral director and freelance writer, opens the doors and welcomes the reader inside his Victorian funeral home, Rudy-Rowland, the second oldest funeral firm in Kentucky. This time, however, the public is allowed past the viewing room, as the reader gets into the hearts and …
