Sammye Greer, Sammye Greer

Professor of English Sammye Greer was on faculty at IWU from 1970-1982. On behalf of the newly-formed 2014 Women's Caucus, Greer was asked to provide any recollections she had of the ca. 1970s IWU Women's Caucus, including any records or documentation that might still exist. Her remarks describe the campus climate for female faculty, events of the Caucus in her era, and perspectives on the issues she encountered as department chair.

Margaret Davidson Watson is a Sigma Kappa and graduated with a degree in English Literature in 1946. She was interviewed at Westminster Village in Bloomington by the Director of Alumni Relations.

Samuel Van Pelt, Samuel Van Pelt 1875, Edward K. Waters '37

Dr. Samuel Van Pelt, Class of 1875, was the oldest living alumni at the time of this recording. He received a BA, MA, and DD from IWU and was a Professor of English and Oratory (1877-80) as well as the Librarian (1877-79); he was also an active member of the Methodist Church. He died in 1953, but a scholarship established in his memory exists today.
