Distributed generation networks including micro grids benefit from solar cells that are controlled by dc-dc converters. In this research a nonlinear discrete-time model for a buck converter tied to a solar system is derived with unknown internal dynamics. Then, adaptive neural network (NN) controller is employed to enhance stability of dc-dc converter connected to grid-tie inverter (GTI) in the presence of power system disturbances. Finding a proper work/rest schedule is considered an important factor for improved efficiency, safety, and a higher rate of productivity in the workplace. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum rest period for lifting tasks using heart rate, perceived exertion, and physical strength. First, the maximum acceptable weight of the box to be lifted was determined for each one of 10 participants using a psychophysical approach. The separation of pyrolysis bio-oil is important for its role in upgrading oil quality and acquiring commercial byproducts. A selective separation method for biopyrolysis liquids is developed in this work. Two parts in succession are involved as the first one aims at selectively removing some of the heaviest fractions from bio-oil. Chromatographic adsorption results show that Class C Fly ash and pyrolysis Bio-char have potential for this goal at <300 ºC, byproduct like combined adsorbates / adsorbents could also be used directly in asphalt cement processes. Thereafter, the second part focuses on adsorbing light fractions like lighter acids and aldehydes selectively. Basic (modified) activated carbons display relatively low selectivity at ~250ºC, but they have better selectivity compared to unmodified activated carbons. Thus some carbon-coated mesoporous silica and alumina materials are also prepared for the adsorption of these light compounds in the future. The combination of the two parts of adsorptions would leave behind a middle distillate fraction which is the bio-oil fraction most amenable to catalytic upgrading, to either a fuel or chemical feedstock.

Transporting drilled cuttings from the bottomhole to the surface becomes more difficult and problematic in highly deviated wells than in vertical wells. Cuttings tend to settle down on the low side of the annulus typically in the form of a bed which can cause further problems. Green leaf volatiles (GLVs) are a group of biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOCs) released into the atmosphere by vegetation when plants undergo stress or mechanical damage. BVOCs produce secondary organic aerosol (SOA) in the gas phase; however, their oxidation as a source of SOA in the liquid phase has not been investigated. Once released into the atmosphere, water-soluble GLVs partition into atmospheric water phases such as fog, mist, dew or rain, where they are oxidized by hydroxyl radicals (ÿOH). The main objective of this work is to study the liposomal uptake of silver and old nanoparticles. Liposomes were prepared in Heating Method. The phospholipids used to prepare liposomes are 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (16:0 PC); 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phospho-(1'-rac-glycerol) (16:0 PG); 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (18:0 PC); 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phospho-(1'-rac-glycerol) (sodium salt) (18:0 PG).Four different combinations of phospholipids were used to prepare liposomes. In all four combinations two types of phospholipids were used. One of the VOCs emitted from the processing of coniferous softwood tree species is β-caryophyllene, a naturally occurring sesquiterpene of environmental concern. One approach that may be attractive for treating gaseous emissions of β-caryophyllene from wood processing operations is the use of fixed-film processes commonly referred to as biofiltration. A complete electrical model of the dye-sensitized solar cell has been presented. This model relates the material parameters of the cell to the cell’s performance. The full model is reduced to an Idealized form and simulated to find an idealistic power curve or current (I) – voltage (V) curve. The operating parameters of reflectivity, temperature, reverse saturation current and ideality factor are investigated. Bio-degradable poly (l-lactic acid) (PLLA) scaffolds were prepared by using thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) method. A solution of PLLA-Dioxane was formed by dissolving PLLA in dehydrated 1,4-Dioxane at three wt/vol percentages, specifically 3, 7 and 10%. This PLLA-Dioxane solution was then frozen in borosilicate glass vials (5mL) at three cooling rates (1, 10 and 40 ˚C/min) in a commercially available controlled rate freezer (CRF). The frozen solution was freeze-dried to sublimate the Dioxane. The sedimentation of a cloud of particles in a viscous fluid at low and moderate Reynolds numbers has been studied using an Eulerian-Lagrangian multiphase flow approach. We looked at the volume fraction dependence of the settling cloud and find a similar dependence in the simulations as in the theoretical predictions of (Nitsche and Batchelor 1997). The average cloud settling velocity and the velocity fluctuations around this average are found to have a functional dependence on ö^1/3 at negligible Reynolds number. A continuous-flow system composed of two anaerobic bioreactor (ABR) columns (based on engineered wetland systems) connected in series was tested to observe the ability of such a system to treat multiple volatile organic compounds (VOCs) possessing suspected inhibitory effects on the dechlorination of other compounds with cis-1,2-dichloroethylene (cDCE) and 1,1-dichloroethane (1,1-DCA) as the main test chemicals. Following the establishment of cDCE and 1,1-DCA dechlorinating ability at baseline conditions, system perturbations of breakthrough and starvation were conducted to measure the response and recovery of the system dechlorination.
