The local delivery of Cu2+ from copper-doped bioactive glass (Cu-BaG) was combined with 3D printing of polycaprolactone (PCL) scaffolds for its potent angiogenic effect in bone tissue engineering. PCL and Cu-BaG were, respectively, dissolved and dispersed in acetone to formulate a moderately homogeneous ink. The PCL/Cu-BaG scaffolds were fabricated via direct ink writing into a cold ethanol bath. The architecture of the printed scaffolds, including strut diameter, strut spacing, and porosity, were investigated and characterized. The PCL/Cu-BaG scaffolds showed a Cu-BaG content-dependent mechanical property, as the compressive Young's modulus ranged from 7 to 13 MPa at an apparent porosity of …

Binder-free self-assembled 3D architecture electrodes have been fabricated by a novel convenient method. Liquid crystalline graphene oxide was used as precursor to interact with poly(3,4-ethylene-dioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) in dispersion in order to form a conductive polymer entrapped, self-assembled layer-by-layer structure. This advanced network containing PEDOT:PSS enabled us to ascribe the superior electrochemical properties of particular graphene sheets. This layer-by-layer self-assembled 3D architecture of best performing composite (reduced graphene oxide-PEDOT:PSS 25) showed excellent electrochemical performance of 434 F g−1 through chemical treatment. To highlight these advances, we further explored the practicality of the as-prepared electrode by varying the composite material content. …

This paper proposes a modification to TRAK (The Rail Architecture frameworK) to make it more suitable for acquisition of the general class of urban infrastructure systems. In this paper four of the main system stakeholders, namely acquirer, developer, investor and regulator are chosen and their concerns are identified. Australian government enterprises have shown a significant interest in the cloud technology-enabled enterprise transformation. Australian government suggests the whole-of-a-government strategy to cloud adoption. The challenge is how best to realise this cloud adoption strategy for the cloud technology-enabled enterprise transformation? The cloud adoption strategy realisation requires concrete guidelines and a comprehensive practical framework. This paper proposes the use of an agile enterprise architecture framework to developing and implementing the adaptive cloud technology-enabled enterprise architecture in the Australian government context. This paper investigates the throughput performance of the IEEE 802.11 MAC when the physical layer is implemented remotely on a cloud-based SDR platform. An analytical model which considers a non-zero late ACK arrival probability is proposed to analyse throughput performance. Both conventional DCF and the Block ACK enhancement from current IEEE 802.11 standards are analysed using the proposed model. Results show that the network delay variance significantly degrades the performance of conventional DCF while enabling Block ACK significantly reduces this degradation.

It is a challenge to increase the visible-light photoresponses of wide-gap metal oxides. In this study, we proposed a new strategy to enhance the visible-light photoresponses of wide-gap semiconductors by deliberately designing a multi-scale nanostructure with controlled architecture. Hollow ZnO microspheres with constituent units in the shape of one-dimensional (1D) nanowire networks, 2D nanosheet stacks, and 3D mesoporous nanoball blocks are synthesized via an approach of two-step assembly, where the oligomers or the constituent nanostructures with specially designed structures are first formed, and then further assembled into complex morphologies. This paper details exploratory research which treats architecting as a system. This human architecting system has a structure composed of decisions, interdependencies amongst decisions, decision making, decision makers and the decision-making environment. Agent-based modelling is used to model the architecting system, and simulation is used to visualise system behaviour over time. The goal is to map legitimate / optimal speed of architectural decision-making to an architecting system behaviour pattern.
