"Thermomechanical responses of three single crystal superalloys were measured in between 600 and 1200 degrees C using a thermomechanical simulator. On-heating results showed no softening while testing below 1000 degrees C. In contrast, extensive softening was observed while testing above 1000 degrees C. This rapid softening is related to dissolution of gamma' precipitates. During on-cooling tests from 1300 degrees C, strength recovery of these samples occurred only below 900 degrees C. The delay in strength recovery is attributed to the extent of undercooling required for rapid decomposition of the gamma phase into mixture of gamma and gamma' phases."

An Efficient Single-Key Pirates Tracing Scheme Using Cover-Free Families, Joseph Tonien, Rei Safavi-Naini

A cover-free family is a well-studied combinatorial structure that has many applications in computer science and cryptography. In this paper, we propose a new public key traitor tracing scheme based on cover-free families. The new traitor tracing scheme is similar to the Boneh-Franklin scheme except that in the Boneh-Franklin scheme, decryption keys are derived from Reed-Solomon codes while in our case they are derived from a cover-free family. This results in much simpler and faster tracing algorithms for single-key pirate decoders, compared to the tracing algorithms of Boneh-Franklin scheme that use Berlekamp- Welch algorithm. The authors report for the first time the size dependency of the elastic modulus of well-aligned single polymeric nanofibers. The nanofibers were fabricated from electroactive polymers (EAPs) and had an ellipsoidal cross section because of impingement between a solid surface and a polymer jet during electrospinning. Although the EAPs had very weak mechanical properties in the bulk, the elastic modulus of single EAP nanofibers increased exponentially as the diameter of the EAP nanofibers decreased to diameters of a few tens of nanometers. The elastic modulus of single nanofibers was measured using three-point bending tests employing an atomic force microscope.

Spin Singlet Pairing In The Superconducting State Of Naxco02 1.3h2o: Evidence From A 59co Knight Shift In A Single Crystal, Guo-Qing Zheng, Kazuaki Matano, Dapeng Chen, C T. Lin

We report a 59Co Knight-shift measurement in a single crystal of the cobalt oxide superconductor NaxCoO2∙1.3H2O (Tc=4.25 K). We find that the shift due to the spin susceptibility, Ks, is substantially large and anisotropic, with the spin shift along the a-axis Kas being two times that along the c-axis Kcs. The shift decreases with decreasing temperature (T) down to T≈100 K, then becomes a constant until superconductivity sets in. Both Kas and Kcs decrease below Tc. Our results indicate unambiguously that the electron pairing in the superconducting state is in the spin singlet form.
