Three important optical properties used for monitoring coastal water quality are the concentrations of chlorophyll (CHL), color dissolved organic matter (CDOM) and total suspended materials (TSM). Ocean color remote sensing, a technique to collect color data by detection of upward radiance from a distance (Bukata et al.,1995), provides a synoptic view for determining these concentrations from upwelling radiances. In the open ocean (Case-I), it is not difficult to derive empirical algorithms relating the received radiances to surface concentrations of water quality parameters. The purpose of this research was to develop a general, statistical model of order-to-delivery times for commercial satellite imagery. The research looked at the current four satellite providers with 3-meter or better imagers in the context of a generalized model of commercial imaging satellite operations. Existing methods use orbit analysis tools to determine the imaging time of a specified target based on defined satellite position and times, but can only develop shortest and longest times to an imaging opportunity. Hyperspectral imagery providing both spatial and spectral information has diverse applications in remote sensing and scientific imaging scenarios. The development of the Chromotomographic Imaging System (CTIS) allows simultaneous collection of both spatial and spectral data by a two-dimensional (2D) focal plane detector array. Post-processing of the 2D detector data reconstructs the three-dimensional (3D) hyperspectral content of the imaged scene. This thesis develops Estimation Theory based algorithms for reconstructing the hyperspectral scene data. The initial algorithm developed reconstructs the 3D hyperspectral scene data cube. An additional algorithm reconstructs a matrix comprised of one spectral dimension and one compound spatial dimension. This …

In 2001, the Office of the Civil Engineer, Installation and Logistics, Headquarters, United States Air Force, (ILE) identified Civil Engineer Squadrons as the central point of contact for all base-level mapping requirements/activities. In order to update mapping methods and procedures, ILE has put into place a program called GeoBase, which uses private sector Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology as a foundation. In its current state, GeoBase uses the concept of a "Common Installation Picture (CIP)" to describe the goal of a consolidated "visual" that integrates the many layers of mapping information. Remote sensing has been used in precision agriculture for monitoring crop health, weed management, detecting nutrient stress, and yield forecasting. One method of implementing remote sensing is through aerial imagery. Aerial imagery is being used in precision agriculture for a variety causes such as to detect crop stress, fertilizer skips and overlaps, nitrogen excesses and deficiencies and detect irregular or reduced crop stand.
