Machine Learning Based Three-Limb Core-Type Transformer Core Aspect Ratios Identification, Ananta Bijoy Bhadra

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Power transformers are considered one of the key elements of electric grids. Transient studies include transformer transient analysis which is required for the continuous power supply. However, to perform the transient analysis, the details of the internal structure of the transformer are required which are unobtainable and considered as confidential information. Therefore, the application of topological-based transformer models is limited although the models can accurately represent the transformers. To address this concern, a novel approach utilizing Machine Learning (ML) to identify the core aspect ratios of the three-limb core-type transformer is introduced. The proposed approach, using only the voltage and …

Feasibility Of Pile Driving Analyzer For Pile On Rock, Tanvir Ahmed Jan 2024

Feasibility Of Pile Driving Analyzer For Pile On Rock, Tanvir Ahmed

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

The purpose of the field verification of piles is to check whether piles can withstand design load. Two commonly used methods are high strain dynamic piles and static load testing. Static load testing is very time-consuming, requires heavy deadloads and much space, and doesn’t have stress monitoring advantages in piles. High strain dynamic has been employed as an alternative in this regard. Pile dynamic analyzer (PDA) is a device which is used during dynamic testing to analyze the measurements from the test. PDA calculates the geotechnical or structural resistance by using wave mechanics algorithm installed in it. Total driving resistance …

Understanding The Impact Of Process Interruption On Mechanical Properties In Metal Additive Manufacturing: A Comprehensive Investigation, Poojith C. Chigurupati

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Metal additive manufacturing techniques enable rapid prototyping and on-demand manufacturing while improving supply chain resiliency. Changes in microstructure and micro-mechanical characteristics of 3D printed metal parts occur due to the influence of process interruptions on melting-solidification cycles during the layer evolution in additive manufacturing processes. The process interruption can deteriorate the structural integrity of the 3D printed parts and generate micro-flaws in the interruption region. Manufacturing post-processing techniques such as Heat-Treatment methods can enhance the mechanical properties of the parts. Since variations commonly happen at the layer level, the investigation of mechanical properties must be done such that these variations …

Magnetorheological elastomers, or MREs, are smart composite materials with controllable physical and mechanical properties when introduced to an external stimulus of a magnetic field. The controllability of these properties is highly tunable by the selection of the elastomeric matrix, concentration of magnetically permeable particles, introduction of additives, and the alignment of the constituents during the curing process. The fabrication of MREs typically calls for a mold that is filled with an MRE mixture to create the final desired geometry after curing. These molds are frequently placed under a magnetic field which orients the micron sized magnetic particles along the magnetic …
