Information Management And Bim Standards And Supports Inventory, Ryan Dempsey, Barry Mcauley, David Burke Nov 2023

Information Management And Bim Standards And Supports Inventory, Ryan Dempsey, Barry Mcauley, David Burke

Tools

The Digital Standards pillar consists of industry experts who champion the benefits of common rules, guidelines, and workflows that facilitate the improvement of information flow and information management across asset life cycles. Digital standards provide a common language that can be translated to technical specifications enabling clients, designers, contractors, and facilities managers, irrespective of their preferred tools, to communicate efficiently and reduce cost, rework, and disputes. Working closely with the Digital Procurement and Digital Education and Training pillars, this pillar is developing and delivering Irish Information Management/BIM (Digital Construction) guidelines for the sector.

This report summarises existing digital construction standards, …

Mapping In The Humanities: Gis Lessons For Poets, Historians, And Scientists, Emily W. Fairey May 2019

Mapping In The Humanities: Gis Lessons For Poets, Historians, And Scientists, Emily W. Fairey

Open Educational Resources

User-friendly Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is the common thread of this collection of presentations, and activities with full lesson plans. The first section of the site contains an overview of cartography, the art of creating maps, and then looks at historical mapping platforms like Hypercities and Donald Rumsey Historical Mapping Project. In the next section Google Earth Desktop Pro is introduced, with lessons and activities on the basics of GE such as pins, paths, and kml files, as well as a more complex activity on "georeferencing" an historic map over Google Earth imagery. The final section deals with ARCGIS Online …

Applications Of Ultra-High Performance Fiber-Reinforced Concrete On Flexural Structural And Architectural Members, Venkatesh Babu Kaka May 2017

Applications Of Ultra-High Performance Fiber-Reinforced Concrete On Flexural Structural And Architectural Members, Venkatesh Babu Kaka

Civil Engineering Theses

This thesis presents the test results of a study on flexural and shear behavior of Ultra-High-Performance Fiber-Reinforced concrete (UHP-FRC) beams, reinforced with Grade 60 steel (ASTM A615/A615M), Grade 100 steel (ASTM A1035/A1035M) and Basalt fiber reinforced polymer (BFRP) bars. Ultra-high-performance fiber-reinforced concrete (UHP-FRC) has high compressive strength (> 22 ksi (150 MPa)) and exceptional compressive ductility. The use of UHP-FRC provides new opportunities for future infrastructure. However, structural design criteria have not been developed to fully utilize UHP-FRC’s excellent mechanical properties. Maximum useable compressive strain, ecu, specified in the current design codes (ACI 318 Building Code and AASHTO LRFD Bridge …

Ghosts Of The Horseshoe, Heidi Rae Cooley, Richard Walker, Duncan Buell Jan 2014

Ghosts Of The Horseshoe, Heidi Rae Cooley, Richard Walker, Duncan Buell

Digital Projects

Ghosts of the Horseshoe (Ghosts) is a mobile interactive application that endeavors to bring into view--literally, on mobile micro screens (iPads and iPhones at present)--the largely unknown history of slavery at South Carolina College. It deploys game mechanics (i.e., ludic methods), as well as Augmented Reality (AR) and GPS functionality to generate awareness of and questioning about what otherwise seems ordinary: a grassy space at the center of a university campus. It organizes content into distinct but overlapping themes: (1) architectural ghosts (e.g., razed outbuildings); (2) human ghosts (e.g., un/named enslaved persons); and (3) the historic Wall delimiting the Horseshoe …
