Con base a una encuesta nacional de 1973 académicos en su gran mayoría de tiempo completo, se proporciona información sobre su perfil demográfico y la manera en que perciben sus condiciones de trabajo, las actividades que realizan, el ambiente organizacional y sus opiniones respecto a políticas públicas como el Sistema Nacional de Investigadores y el Programa para el Mejoramiento del Profesorado. Los resultados encontrados se discuten a la luz de los procesos de cambio que se han venido dando en la educación superior mexicana durante las últimas tres décadas, y se reflexionan sobre algunas de las implicaciones de dichos resultados.

Preparation of interfacial structures by molecular self-assembly has been actively studied for many years. Well-defined modified interfaces can be used to study fundamental interfacial properties, or they can be used in different practical applications. To broaden the utility of interfaces prepared by molecular self-assembly, monolayers containing terminal functionality are frequently used. These interfaces have structural and physical properties that can be controlled by both the identity of the functionalization as well as the ensemble structure of the modified interface. Participatory decision-making and teachers’ morale are positively and significantly correlated in public secondary schools in Zamboanga City, Philippines. Public secondary school teachers in Zamboanga City have High Morale in their work performance as teachers. This is evident in decision-making processes and activities regarding high school students with disciplinary problems, selection of the honor students, planning of the yearly In-Service Training for Teachers (INSET), preparation of the calendar of activities and conduct of remedial classes for slow learners.

The study using focus groups in the West African nation of The Gambia was an experiential research, which provided viable data on girl child education practices, problems and prospects in the African sub region. This paper presents an opportunity to explore peoples’ perceptions on issues of interest and concern to Gambians on girl child education. The 2006-2007 study was conducted through the use of focus groups for data collection, covering six educational regions in the Republic of The Gambia.

In this paper we report a regioselective Bingel−Hirsch reaction of Sc3N@C78 yielding a single mono- and a dominate bis-ethyl malonate derivative for the first time. The Cs-symmetric monoadduct 1 and C2v-symmetric bisadduct 2 were isolated by HPLC and characterized by MS, UV−vis, and NMR spectroscopy. The symmetric bisadduct 2 clearly demonstrate the remarkable regioselectivity control exerted by the encapsulated Sc3N cluster. We have employed a LUMO electron density surface computational approach to predict multiadduct docking sites on the ellipsoidal fullerene cage surface.

An unfortunate number of institutional advancement operations are ill equipped for the task at hand. Many suffer from high staff turnover and overly hierarchical systems that reflect excessive fragmentation and compartmentalization. They inadvertently perpetuate stifling and unnecessary bureaucracy. This paper considers the programme validation arrangements in place in one half of the Irish higher education sector. It outlines how responsibility for programme validation can be safely delegated to Institutions within a robust overarching framework for quality assurance. It compares programme validation in Institutions with self awarding status with Institutions that have their programmes validated by a national Awarding agency. The paper concludes that when programme validation in Ireland and (potentially) across Europe is examined more closely, processes that appear to be very different on the surface can be quite similar in reality.
