This thesis explores the potential of the intentionally diverse charter model. By first analyzing the presence of charter schools in our educational system and then exploring past and contemporary segregation in the United States, this thesis highlights the need for educational policy that addresses bringing meaningful diversity into schools. This thesis makes an argument for the merits of intentionally diverse charter schools as a way to innovate best practices for the charter school sector as well as the potential for these innovations to be adopted by traditional public schools.
