The purpose of this study was to examine parental attitudes and preferences toward youth programs in a small city school in Northwest Virginia that offer sports activities and mentoring. The study was conducted through the use of surveys, and an in-depth study of similar research and peer-reviewed journal articles. Special interest was given to the youth's parents' attitudes (with specific emphasis on their children's preferences) toward different, existing programs and interest in specific types of sports activities and mentoring programs. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of instructional methods and learning environments on the training, development, and success of employees with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). In this study, instructional methods refer to the variety of educational learning options that trainers can use to facilitate learning. Past research indicates that employees with ADHD are more successful when trainers understand their learning needs, use sound instructional design practices, and provide creative learning environments and structured activities. A number of case studies in the research literature address the negative effects and perceptions associated with working at a call center. The present study focused on student employees who work at an outbound call center operated by and for their university. The purpose of this study was to examine the students’ perceived roles as call center employees, as well as how these perceptions change over time. This paper provides an overview of the educational achievement gap, paying particular attention to the gap between white and minority students. Additionally, this paper explores why closing the achievement gap is important, and why it is hard to do. The goal of this paper is to suggest that using a literacy-based method will produce superior results than using STEM-field methods by highlighting a “best practice,” Musick Elementary School in Newark, California.

Research suggests that girls are at especial disadvantage in the field of informational technology and are less likely than boys to take courses or seek out careers in this area. The Young Women Leaders Program (YWLP), a mentoring program at the University of Virginia that pairs at-risk middle school girls with college women for a year of mentoring, developed the YWLP HerStory project to engage middle school girls in informational technology through their development of technology projects focused on psychosocial issues of importance to them.
