Collective Memory And Creative Subjectivity: A Living Conversation, Alexandra Katherine Goodall, Alba Torres Robinat
Artizein: Arts and Teaching Journal
This article is the record of a dialogue between two artists and Expressive Arts therapists, Alba Torres Robinat and Alexandra Katherine Goodall. They chose to undertake this conversation in the form of letters that were written back-and-forth over a period of time in a shared document, which places their correspondence in the tradition of epistolary writing. This decision to write the article as letters lends the conversation an immediacy, a warmth, a sense of time, distance and familiarity, and a feeling of intimacy.
The authors invite readers to witness the deepening of a relationship and the development of their conversational …

The collaborative use of technology and online teaching and learning is a new pedagogical trend following the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. This pedagogy has created flexible learning modes for teachers and students to practice and develop their speaking skills in English as a foreign language through collaborative activities, interactive group projects, and peer feedback. Despite the plethora of studies pertinent to online learning, online collaborative learning (OCL) insights in rural areas are not well-documented, leaving knowledge gaps. Thus, a study of teachers' and students' perceptions of OCL in rural areas of Papua, Indonesia, is needed. Researchers have …

This study explores lecturers' perceptions and suggestions on integrating gamified lessons in Malaysian higher institutions. The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically changed the norm of traditional classroom teaching by accelerating digital integration amongst educators and necessitating the need to address classroom gamification. To further understand educators' perceptions, we conducted in-depth interviews with 25 lecturers. We thematically analyzed the interviews by following the steps undertaken by Braun and Clarke (2006) to identify the emerging themes. The findings determine that educators found gamification suitable in teaching and learning activities during the set induction, reinforcement and assessment of specific skills. Several misconceptions also evident …

Thermal perception during exercise is known to influence endurance performance and the onset of fatigue. L-menthol, an organic compound derived from peppermint, evokes a cooling sensation through its action on TRPM8 channels which also respond to cold stimuli. Recent work identified that the internal application of menthol-enhanced fluids can be ergogenic during exercise in the heat. Hence, the addition of menthol to energy gels may be practical and beneficial for athletes. PURPOSE: To determine athlete acceptability and preferences for flavored energy gels with different menthol concentrations. METHODS: With a randomized, crossover, and double-blind placebo-controlled design, 27 endurance athletes …

Role Of Artificial Lighting In Emphasizing The Entrance Approaches, Maged Youssef
Architecture and Planning Journal (APJ)
Building's entrance is metaphorically a threshold between two realms, the first is an outdoor exposed to climatic change, hazards, and environmental factors, while the second is controlled, monitored, and determined to certain functions. It plays an important role in enriching users' experience. Moreover, it is the first impression a visitor takes to evaluate a whole building. Architecturally, the entrance is a very special part in the elevation, distinguished and emphasized by different design approaches. One of these approaches is using lighting. There is a direct connection between recognition of a space and light assimilation in it. From sunset to dawn, …

Frameless
This work is based on the Homage to the Square series of paintings by Josef Albers, which includes two murals installed in the lobby of the Eastman Building on RIT’s campus. Albers’ work explored how spatial interactions influence our perception of color, how the color we perceive an area to be is affected by the color of the areas around it. These paintings use Albers’s designs to explore the interaction between projected light and paint, and the resulting perceptual ambiguity. The paintings themselves are purely achromatic. Projected regions of colored light aligned with the painted grayscale borders allow the perceived …
