Ely Wine Bars Menu 2017, Ely Wine Bar

Menus of the 21st Century

16 years ago, ely wine bar at 22 Ely Place, is where it all began. Erik and Michelle Robson opened ely wine bar and in the process changed the way in which wine was sold in Ireland. Passionate about wine, always respectful of its traditions and culture but always with an eye on what's great now. Today ely lists over 500 wines by bottle and 80 wines by the glass.

ely has always focused on the importance of provenance and the community of our artisan producers and suppliers, who enhance the quality of our food experience. There's never been a …

L Mulligan Grocer Menu 2017, L Mulligan Grocer

Menus of the 21st Century

At L. Mulligan. Grocer, we believe Irish produce is special and worth celebrating. We are particularly keen on whiskey, beer, food and gin and love sharing our old favourites and new discoveries with people.

Our whiskey, beer and food menus are seasonal and change regularly. Each of our main courses are matched with a beer or cider and our desserts are matched with a whiskey.

Our monthly charity quiz is held the last Sunday of each month and covers all manner of esoteric subjects: collective nouns, Eurovision, Greek mythology and 1980s cartoon supervillians.

We run regular tasting events in the …

Arnold Michael Shankman Papers - Accession 259, Arnold Michael Shankman Jan 2016

Arnold Michael Shankman Papers - Accession 259, Arnold Michael Shankman

Manuscript Collection

The Arnold Shankman Papers are a treasure trove of historical research in a variety of areas. Within the American Civil War era, Shankman had extensively researched the “copperhead” movement of northern opposition to the war and was an expert on one of its leading members, Clement Vallandigham. Pursuing his interest in ethnic history, Dr. Shankman was a pioneer in the study of how ethnic and immigrant groups viewed each other. For example, he was one of the first to use early African-American newspapers to determine the views of blacks toward Italian immigrants and other groups. Shankman also was singularly instrumental …

Culture In Crisis: The English Novel In The Late Twentieth Century, Michael F. Harper Nov 2014

Culture In Crisis: The English Novel In The Late Twentieth Century, Michael F. Harper

Scripps Faculty Books

Culture in Crisis begins with political and social history at the moment of the election of Margaret Thatcher. Many saw in this event the dissolution of the ideal of the liberal State once believed to be shared by both the Left and the Right. Ranging widely over such writers as Anthony Powell, John LeCarre, Samuel Selvon, Salman Rushdie, and Margaret Drabble, Harper examines various responses to this “crisis” which he shows to have roots in a pernicious ideal of “Englishness” going back many generations. With considerable skill and a masterful grasp of books and ideas, he presents the novel as …
