The internet is a key part of identity exploration and the coming out process for LGBTQ+ youth and young adults. While the internet offers the benefits of allowing individuals to participate in LGBTQ+ identity formation, community development, and affirming sex education no matter where they live, it also presents challenges. These challenges include the potential for internet addiction, the possibility of encountering cyberbullying and derogatory language and hate speech online, and misinformation about sex. Stress in schools has become an increasing problem within the United States. Adolescents struggle with high rates and high levels of anxiety due to many pressures surrounding them, especially expectations from school. Due to their growing brains, stress and anxiety during this time can affect future functioning. This group manual has been created for adolescents experiencing Bipolar Disorder symptoms. Among the literature regarding this population there is a lack of focus on suicidal tendencies and family functioning. High rates of suicidal ideation and attempts are an area of concern among adolescents. Family functioning has also been identified as a concern, as it is a cause of stress among adolescents with bipolar disorder. A focus on prevention of suicidal tendencies and improving family functioning is imperative within this population. A group manual was developed that reflects the needs of this population.
