Development Of Lambda Factors For Masonry Design With Lightweight Grout, Rumi Shrestha
Development Of Lambda Factors For Masonry Design With Lightweight Grout, Rumi Shrestha
All Theses
Reduction in structural mass, improvement in thermal performance, and reduction in shrinkage cracking through internal curing are some of the reasons that lightweight (LW) aggregates have been used in structures and pavements for decades. However, lightweight grout is still not permitted for use in reinforced masonry construction by the TMS 402/602-16 code. In order to realize the benefits of lightweight grout in U.S. reinforced masonry construction, a codified procedure for its use is required which must be informed by experimental testing.
This research is a pilot project directed to characterize the performance of LW grout in comparison to normal weight …

Evaluation Of Masonry Materials And Structures Using Digital Image Correlation, Brittany Bullard
Civil Engineering Theses
Masonry structures are common throughout the world. Adobe is a masonry material found in the southwestern states of the United States in residential structures. Adobe is mostly used in brick form, where locally collected sand, clay, and silt are combined with natural fibers and water to create unfired bricks. The natural fibers provide the primary reinforcement of these bricks, and aid in the drying process, helping the bricks dry evenly. While this material has been used as a residential building material for many hundreds of years, much is still not understood regarding its mechanical properties, as they are dependent on …
Design Of Load Bearing Wall For Low Rise Building With Partially Grouted Reinforced Masonry, Anil Bhatt
Design Of Load Bearing Wall For Low Rise Building With Partially Grouted Reinforced Masonry, Anil Bhatt
Honors Theses
The seismic and wind load acting on the 2-storeyed building of dimension 120 ft x 98 ft located in Oxford, MS, were calculated and the seismic load was considered for the design of the 120 ft long and 24 ft high load-bearing wall because it being critical. The maximum loading was computed using different load combinations. The masonry behavior and masonry specifications were considered to select the masonry unit, grout, and mortar for the load-bearing wall. The seismic design requirement for the shear and slender wall was fulfilled for the special reinforced masonry wall. The in-plane and out-of-plane loading scenarios …
