Job Competencies, Career Paths, And Educational Backgrounds Of "Fortune" 500 Training Directors, Rachael A. Shultz

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

This study examined the job competencies, career paths, and educational backgrounds of training directors and also compared the responses of male and female training directors in an attempt to identify possible sources of justification for reported male/female salary differences. The Relationship Between Environmental Attitudes And Environmental Behaviors Among Air Force Members, Daniel T. Holt Dec 1995

The Relationship Between Environmental Attitudes And Environmental Behaviors Among Air Force Members, Daniel T. Holt

Theses and Dissertations

A questionnaire was distributed to nearly 2,000 randomly selected active duty Air Force members assigned to locations throughout the continental United States. The survey was designed to determine the extent to which Air Force members expressed support for environmental issues. In addition, the survey measured how frequently Air Force members engaged in specific behaviors that were deemed environmentally protective. Although the Air Force members expressed relatively strong support for environmental issues, they only occasionally engaged in activities that contribute to the preservation or protection of the environment. Correlation analysis revealed that the pro-environmental attitudes were positively linked to the environmentally …

A Feasibility Study On The Automation Of Domestic Airline Passenger Customer Service Check-In Procedures For Far Part 121 Carriers, Don Michael Trevor Bennett

Master's Theses - Daytona Beach

This study was conducted in an attempt to determine whether airlines can benefit from a fully automated customer service system which will be used by major, Part 121, operators for domestic travel purposes only. The proposed system will be designed to alleviate airport terminals check-in counter congestion and improve customer service personnel effectiveness and efficiency.

Domestic traffic is expected to increase by 50 percent by the year 2004. An Automatic Ticketing and Baggage (ATB) system will allow passengers to process all flight related transactions only once. A self checking-in system allows a passenger to obtain boarding passes and destination bag …

U.S. Open: Seles And Graf, Agassi And Sampras, Richard C. Crepeau

On Sport and Society

After the Cal Ripken experience last week it's difficult to come back to reality and deal with the assorted goodies that sportsworld has dealt us in recent days. The crime report out of Nebraska shows us that Oklahoma and Miami are not the only programs that harbor troubled youth. The stories out of Dallas involving Jerry Jones, Nike, Pepsi, and Deion Sanders remind us just how central money has become in sport. While local heroes show us the arrogance of fame and fortune at the Waffle House.

Who Are You And What Do You Want? (Elgin, Il), C. William Pollard

C. William Pollard Papers

In this semi-autobiographical chapel address at Judson College, Pollard addresses the question of vocation. Rather than simply being synonymous with "career," he contends that vocation is the specific way one is called to actualize faith in daily life.

Establishing A Standardized Set Of Base-Level Transportation Metrics, Kyle D. Marsh

Metrics are a measuring tool and a component of strategic planning; metrics help organizations meet goals related to customer satisfaction. The research's goal was accomplished by surveying enlisted personnel, officers, and civilians serving in the Air Force. The sample consisted …

Measuring Behaviors Of Air Force Officers As Indicators Of Effective Performance And Leadership, Linda S. Hurry Sep 1995

Measuring Behaviors Of Air Force Officers As Indicators Of Effective Performance And Leadership, Linda S. Hurry

Theses and Dissertations

It is clear that the officer corps will play a key role in improving the Air Force's efficiency, preserving its traditions, and ensuring it maintains the highest level of combat capability. Yet, surprisingly, there is little agreement about exactly which types of officer performance contribute the most to meeting the Air Force's objectives. Performance requirements for officers have not been defined in terms specific enough to guide training course development and performance evaluations. This study identified the types of performance behaviors Air Force supervisors view as most important for effective officership. It also tested a model of individual officer effectiveness …

A Study Of Cumulative Trauma Disorders Of The Upper Extremities And Occupation In Wright-Patterson Adir Force Base Civilian Personnel, Scott T. Hillstead

Theses and Dissertations

This study utilized a case-control methodology to describe and analyze the 115 cases of occupational illnesses reported by civilian employees of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (AFB) between 1990 and 1995. Determining if a statistically significant association existed between age and duration of employment risk factors and cumulative trauma disorders (CTDs) was a primary objective. The frequency of CTDs among the various organizations at Wright-Patterson AFB are also described. The research could not prove the existence of a significant association for the 44 subjects and 176 controls matched on occupational group. However, the demographic and other descriptive results may form a …

Defining The Relationships Of The Us Government, The United Nations And Non-Governmental Organizations In Humanitarian Assistance, Amy M. Dayon

Theses and Dissertations

After the Cold War ended, the media increased the world's awareness of humanitarian problems. In an effort to reach more of the suffering, the United Nations, donor governments, and non-governmental organizations began to provide a larger quantity of relief through a more structured system. The purpose of this thesis is to define the relationships of the three major groups responsible for providing humanitarian assistance in the world today. The methods and structure of the US government, UN and three non-governmental organizations (International Committee of the Red Cross, Medecins sans Frontieres, and Catholic Relief Services) are used as examples of the …

The Role Of Stories In Understanding The Cultural Context Surrounding Information Systems Practices, Line Dubé Jul 1995

The Role Of Stories In Understanding The Cultural Context Surrounding Information Systems Practices, Line Dubé

FIU Electronic Theses and Dissertations

The culture of an organization constitutes the environment into which information systems (IS) practices take place. Despite the importance of culture in the organizational theory and management literature, this topic has received little attention in the IS area. The culture of an organization can be looked at from different angles. In addition to the usual view of culture, the integration view, two other perspectives have been identified in the literature: the differentiation and fragmentation perspectives. While the integration perspective focuses on the "assembling" role organizational culture is normally said to play, the differentiation perspective highlights important differences among groups of …

Values In Transition: The Case Of Modern Mexico, Howard Stanley Hart Iii Jul 1995

Values In Transition: The Case Of Modern Mexico, Howard Stanley Hart Iii

Theses and Dissertations in Business Administration

The purpose of this dissertation is to explore the changes in the cultural values of individuals from one traditional society who have been exposed to socialization agents generated by a more modern, developed society. The country chosen for this study was Mexico. Mexico has recently experienced an increase in U.S. business, education, and media-based activities, partially as a result of NAFTA. It seems reasonable to expect that Mexicans may be shifting their individual values and perhaps modifying their consumption-related behavior as a consequence of this increase in cultural contact. Given that Mexico has individuals representing the very rich, the middle-class, …

Teaching Ethics In Schools Of Business In Oklahoma Colleges And Universities, Shelsea Ellis

McCabe Thesis Collection

The research in this study seeks to establish the degree to which ethics is included in the business curriculum of four-year colleges and universities in Oklahoma. If ethics is taught as a separate course, the study inquires about the methodology used in that course. If there is not a separate ethics course, the study determines if ethics is included in several courses of the business curriculum. Clarification is also determined as to the percentage of time dedicated to the teaching of ethics and whether or not the dean of the School of Business believes this percentage to be appropriate.
