Exploring The Kurdish Population In The Turkish Context, Ibrahim Sirkeci

Ibrahim Sirkeci

This paper explores the Kurdish population as an ethnic minority within the Turkish context. In this regard, it is the first investigation of the Kurdish population in Turkey to be based on a nation-wide representative survey supplemented by other data sources and previous studies. This study analyses the demographic patterns and related socio-economic characteristics of Turkey’s Kurdish population and compares the findings with the entire population of Turkey. Malaysian Culture And The Leadership Of Organisations: A Globe Study, Norma Mansor

Norma Mansor

Leadership behavior significantly influences the performance of companies and the motivation of people. However, much of our knowledge regarding the characteristics of effective leaders is based on research carried out in Western countries. The results suggest that sponsor-event fit, perceived sincerity of the sponsor, perceived ubiquity of the sponsor and attitude towards the sponsor are key factors in generating a favorable response from sponsorship. Liking of the event and perceived status of the event have differing significance …

A Body Of Consensus: The Church As Embodied Organization, Vaughan S. Roberts Dec 1999

A Body Of Consensus: The Church As Embodied Organization, Vaughan S. Roberts

Vaughan S Roberts

This chapter examines how thinking about the nature of embodiment might inform an understanding of how this metaphor is used to describe the Church. It begins by looking at two important metaphorical uses of the body in the New Testament (the Last Supper and the Church as the Body of Christ) and then employs ideas from the writings of Mark Johnson, John O’Neil, Philip A. Mellor and Chris Shilling to see how they could inform theological notions of embodied unity, diversity, contingency and dialectic. It concludes by arguing that the Church is an embodiment of consensus and conflict.
