Scholars in in educational leadership, business management, and organizational psychology have thoroughly explored the construct of organizational trust. While trust has attracted some attention from sport management scholars, the research has primarily focused on the individual, rather than organization. This manuscript provides an overview of the organizational trust literature with specific application to the area of intercollegiate athletic departments. Additionally, the Athletic Department Trust Scale (ADTS) is introduced as an instrument to measure organizational trust in the setting. The Influence Of Hospitality Leaders’ Relational Transparency On Followers’ Trust And Deviance Behaviors: Mediating Role Of Behavioral Integrity, Anthony Gatling, Cass Shum, L Book, Billy Bai

This paper investigates the effect of leader's relational transparency on follower organizational deviance through followers’ perception of leader's behavioral integrity and their trust in leader. Multi-level modeling results from a multisource survey-based field-study with 24 hospitality student project teams (N = 149) show that behavioral integrity mediates the relationship between leader's relational transparency and follower's trust in leader. Furthermore, multi-level path analysis suggests that leader's relational transparency, a team-level construct, exerts a cross-level effect on follower's organizational deviance through the mediating roles of behavioral integrity and follower's trust in leader. This paper provides the materials used to collect survey data for the conceptual replication of Pavlou (2003) by Moqbel and Bartelt (2015). This replication paper used trust and perceived risk, in addition to the technology acceptance model (TAM) factors of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use, to determine how consumer’s behavioral intentions affect online transactions (Moqbel & Bartelt, 2015). Applicant impression management (IM), and especially its deceptive side (i.e., faking), has been described as a potential threat to the validity of employment interviews. This threat was confirmed by evidence of interviewers’ inability to detect (deceptive) IM tactics. Previous studies suggested that some interviewers could be better IM detectors than others, but did not examine the reasons explaining higher abilities. Building on interpersonal deception theory, this study explores individual differences in cognitions (i.e., cognitive ability) and social sensitivity (associated with generalized trust and honesty) as predictors of IM detection abilities. Online Product Recommendations (OPRs) are increasingly available to online customers as a value-added self-service in evaluating and choosing a product. Research has highlighted several advantages that customers can gain from using OPRs. However, the realization of these advantages depends on whether and to what extent customers embrace and fully utilise them. Integrating the literature on trust building and cultural intelligence, the purpose of this paper is to understand how expatriate managers build trust with their host country nationals (HCNs) in China. Qualitative data collected via extensive interviews with 12 expatriate managers and 34 HCNs from seven multinational companies in Shanghai. The authors find that expatriate managers and HCN managers build trust via competence/ability at the onset. The trust relationship becomes stronger over time with the development of affect-based trust via cultural intelligence of the expatriate managers. Enhancing Funders’ And Advocates’ Effectiveness: The Processes Shaping Collaborative Advocacy For Health System Accountability In South Africa, Barbara Klugman, Waasila Jassat

This article describes the roles of five advocacy groups that built collaborative initiatives to address the collapsing health system in South Africa.

The findings presented are based on retrospective reviews of annual reports, organizational evaluations, interviews, and focus group discussions with each of four participating organizations and existing literature on the fifth.

The key findings, for both advocacy groups shaping alliance strategies and for funders, are that flexible funding and a shared value system among groups with diverse capacities, constituencies, and reputational resources is a good approach for enabling adaptive and innovative strategies for holding the public sector accountable.

This study furthers the research on work engagement, organizational (on-the-job) embeddedness, and perceived organizational support by examining the relationships between these variables through a mediating factor, trust in leadership. Specifically, the study investigates the role of trust as a mediator between organizational job embeddedness and work engagement, and between perceived organizational support and work engagement. In a sample of 318 local county government employees, findings provide support for the hypothesized relationships. Trust in leadership is strongly related to work engagement; trust partially mediates the relationship between organizational job embeddedness and work engagement, and between perceived organizational support and work engagement. …

Research has argued that inter-organizational trust and learning are critical factors associated with successful supply chain innovation and long-term competitiveness. In this paper, we develop and test a proposed model of supply chain organizational design using survey data collected from 128 decision-makers across diverse sample of supply chain decision-makers across many industries. Our analysis provides evidence that both trust and supply chain learning play important, but distinctive roles in developing an entrepreneurial and innovative supply chains.
