Organizations crucially need the creative talent of millennials but are reluctant to hire them because of their supposed lack of diligence. Recent studies have shown that hiring diligent millennials requires selecting those who score high on the Cognitive Reflection Test (CRT) and thus rely on effortful thinking rather than intuition. A central question is to assess whether the push for recruiting diligent millennials using criteria such as cognitive reflection can ultimately hamper the recruitment of creative workers. In essay 1, we propose a model, which utilized Lazarus and Folkman’s Cognitive Appraisal Theory of Emotion or Appraisal Theory (1984, 1987) as a structural foundation to lay out the nomological relationships among a person’s personal, cognitive, and emotional factors in predicting technology use behaviors. Emotion, likes many social and psychological factors, is challenging to give a full-consensus definition, and has been treated as a polar counterpart of cognition. "This research presents the analysis of data collected using eye-tracking devices on user interaction with a deception detection system. The differences between two groups of subjects, namely Innocent and Guilty, were compared, where Innocent subjects did not carry any explosive and hence, had nothing to hide in declaring objects that they were carrying whereas Guilty subjects had to lie to deceive the system. The results indicate that there is no significant difference in pupil dilation between the Innocent and Guilty subjects.
