What Fortune 500 Companies Want: Recruiting In China, Eugene P. Kim, Katherine Bruehler

The growth of Fortune 500 companies in China has its complementary challenge in managing human resources. In this study, we describe the skill sets, language fluency, educational credentials, job experience, and other key job qualifications that are solicited on Fortune 500 Companies’ LinkedIn advertisements in China. The characteristics that were most represented in the job advertisements in our sample of 111 US Fortune 500 companies in China were from companies ranked 201-500 (39.6%), in secondary sectors (57.7%), in Tier 1 cities (91.9%) offering lower management positions (47.8%) requiring a bachelor’s degree (55.9%) and English fluency (55.0%) with 6-10 years of …

A Global View Of What Fixes Information Technology Skills Shortage: Panel Data Analyses Of Countries’ Human And Technology Resources, Benyawarath Nithithanatchinnapat, K. D. Joshi

This paper aims to provide evidence of what fixes the information technology skills shortage. The focus is on countries' workforce development factors, i.e., human and technology. The research model was tested using secondary data from multiple sources. An ordinary least square with panel corrected standard errors was used to analyze the data. The results indicate that organizations' staff training and gender parity among science, technology, engineering, and mathematics graduates relate negatively to IT talent shortage; this is consistent in both models the authors tested. The hospitality industry of the United States continues to thrive and grow each year with millions of tourists and business visitors. Florida, and specifically Orlando are leaders in U.S. tourist destinations. The industry’s growth has been stimulated by foreign direct investment, including the EB-5 visa program, which in 2016 contributed almost $4 billion of inward capital investment. The hospitality industry receives one of the largest portions of total EB-5 investment, about 31%. Florida ranks 2nd to New York among a handful of other states that receive the most EB-5 investment.
