Bioprinting is an additive tissue manufacturing process in which cells are stacked in a layer by layer process. Progress in bioprinting techniques have advanced the potential in various medical disciplines such as printed tissue, organs, and bone structures for implantation. Due to the wide array of variations in terms of application there can be a lot of confusion as to what the best method would be to print a structure. This review will describe key factors to the printing process such as bioink selection, printer configurations as well as post-print stabilization methods.
