Krill Watching, Michael J. Leach
Krill Watching, Michael J. Leach
The STEAM Journal
This is a concrete, or visual, found poem about the scientific activity of observing krill in the deep sea. I discovered this concrete found poem in prose that Nicol (2019, p. 200) quoted from Ommanney (1938).

Pages Of The Revolution: Symbolism In Sophia De Mello Breyner Andresen's O Nome Das Coisas, Madalyn Alice Harper Lyman
Undergraduate Honors Theses
In the midst of political turmoil surrounding the Portuguese Revolução dos Cravos (Carnation Revolution), Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen wrote the anthology O Nome das Coisas [“The Name of Things”] (1977). With this historically significant period as the background of her poetry, Andresen addresses the politics of the time with repeated metaphor, particularly the symbol of paper in various forms, such as a poster or a blank page. Through this repeated and evolving symbolism, she illustrates how the anxiousness and oppression of the Portuguese people turned first to relief and rejoicing after the dictatorship fell and then to disappointment …

English Class Course Projects
In the fall semester of 2019, the members of ENGL374 engaged in critical conversations about the climate crisis, its impacts on various communities, and the systems that shape how people are affected by the crisis. To share this with the greater community and invite others to participate in these necessary conversations, ENGL374 sponsored an event comprised of a conversation hour and an open mic, both encouraging community growth, bonding, and shared conversations the climate crisis. The event was dedicated to creating a space where people could share works that connected to their personal feelings about the state of the natural …

Amir Husraf’S Literary Heritage In Applied Art Rituals, Feruza Nizamova
The Light of Islam
In the article Amir Khusrav Dekhlavi’s huge heritage in the ruba’i genre is tried to study briefly. The aim of the article is to study the ideological and artistic system of the poet’s works, to identify the poet’s skills in the ruba’i genre, and also to define the role of his writings in the history of Persian-Tajik literature through analyzing his ruba’is. It is a scientific fact that he has profoundly influenced the other poets’ works in the Islamic region who wrote in Persian and Turkic afterwards. The interest to the poet’s writings, including his ruba’is, is related to the …

Sink Hollow Volume 8
Sink Hollow
To make a magazine, we seek contrast and even the tension of contradiction.
We hunt for the words that defy experience, and experiences that defy words alone but must be captured by clever poetic contraptions and literary devices that violate the architecture of language and definitions in order to teach us what we can't know by conventional means. We crave the ingenious art of using words to drag meaning outside the semantic containment of words. There's contradiction! This is the skill of infusing words with the power to evoke emotion and connection. The work of the poet, the artist, the …

Master of Arts in Humanities | Master's Theses 1936 - 2022
This creative Master’s Thesis is a collaborative effort between my writings and various visual artistic responses. I submitted my writings to volunteers who agreed to send me a visual or illustrative response to what they read. There were no rules or formatting requirements. The response could be any kind of visual artwork, from a painting, line drawing, or even a photograph. Posting the call for volunteers on Facebook and using simple digital platforms for sharing writing and artwork proved instrumental in enabling this project to reach a global audience.
While this experiment had no expectations or intention at the outset, …
