The Development Of The Virginia State Board Of Medical Examiners, John Conner Atkeson
The Development Of The Virginia State Board Of Medical Examiners, John Conner Atkeson
Master's Theses
Until the latter part of the nineteenth century, the medical profession suffered from a basic lack of knowledge concerning disease and infection. The Civil War, during which thousands or men died of infection following wounds and operations was a monument to that lack of knowledge. Wounded and injured soldiers were doomed to a ,slow death .from gangrene caused by unclean operating methods and poor hospital sanitation. The number of lives that might have been saved by better techniques will never be known, but a fairly safe assumption would be that at least eighty percent of the wounded who actually came.under a.doctor's care …

Master's Theses
This thesis is an attempt to evaluate the work of the outstanding British and American short story writers from the early 1800's to the present. Serious Domestic Drama As Tragedy : A Study Of The Protagonist, Charles Turney
Serious Domestic Drama As Tragedy : A Study Of The Protagonist, Charles Turney
Master's Theses
Domestic drama is the most popular genre employed by the modern dramatist. The question may arise as to whether or not tragedy is any longer desired by the playgoer. In these representative plays, taken from many countries and written on a variety of themes all centered around domestic life, as judged by the criteria established in the first chapter, few of these dramas succeed as tragedies. This is not to be interpreted to mean that the so-called "tragic impulse" is dead. Those plays which are classed as tragedy are pure tragedy-- dramas at the peak of intensity demanded by the …

Daniel 8:14 And The Latter Days, Desmond Ford
Daniel 8:14 And The Latter Days, Desmond Ford
Master's Theses
Does Daniel 8:14 have an eschatological application? This is the problem considered in this thesis. In the nineteenth century a host of interpreters came to the conclusion that Daniel 8 was of special significance for their own age, and these writers stressed the belief of many post-Reformation scholars that Rome rather than Antiochus fulfilled the specifications of the little horn, and that the 2300 days …
