On August 21st, 1984, Julie Orenstein interviewed Ben Muler about his life before, during, and after World War II. In his interview Muler discusses growing up in Vilna, Poland, his parent's occupations, and his family history. He also talks about leaving Vilna to escape the oncoming Germans, how his parents refused to come, and the conditions as he and his friends crossed into Russia. Towards the end of the interview Muller also talks about coming to the United States and his eventual arrival in Dayton.

In her interview Fishman describes her early childhood in Poland, her parents careers and education, and their religious life there. She later recounts the Germans invading her hometown and being forced to live in a ghetto and how her family eventually escaped to hide in a nearby forest.
