Culture/Capital A Speculative Consideration Of James Joyce's Ulysses, Audrey Del Grosso

This thesis explores how a speculative consideration of James Joyce’s novel Ulysses that combines postcolonial and Marxist and theoretical perspectives can challenge traditional critical approaches that are dogmatically one-sided. Three episodes of the work are analyzed to demonstrate the relationship between culture and economics, which aligns with the above-mentioned theoretical approaches.
The selected episodes -- “Telemachus” (episode 1), “Nestor” (episode 2), and “Scylla and Charybdis” (episode 9) -- focus on Stephen Dedalus and provide the opportunity to consider the manifestation of colonialism and imperialism in his various relationships.

Finding Truth In Memoir, John Abernethy

This thesis represents four chapters of a memoir. The first chapter is a work of fiction and the remaining three chapters are written in the genre of creative nonfiction.
The completed work will continue this structure and present personal narratives of memoir interspersed with works of fiction. Fiction serves to support and complement the variability and deficits of memory, to fill in the gaps, in the process of revealing the personal truth of memoir. Everything Is Relative: Frances Elizabeth Mease Barrow (Aunt Fanny) And Sarah Leaming Barrow Holly (Aunt Fanny's Daughter), Deidre A. Johnson

For more than forty years Frances Elizabeth Mease Barrow's name – or, rather, that of her pseudonym, "Aunt Fanny" – remained before the public. In the 1850s and 1860s, she published five quirkily-titled series combining humor, moral instruction, and social awareness. By the 1870s and 1880s, her name was associated with children's charities and with club activities and literary salons. When she died in 1894, one obituary characterized her both as an author whose children's books "delighted the grandfathers and grandmothers of the present day" and as "a social star, known to everybody as 'Aunt Fanny.'"
