Although Thomas Hood lived an uneventful and somewhat undramatic life, it was not entirely fruitless. His unparalleled misfortune in health and economy was scarcely offset by a felicitous family life; but his poetry--some inane, some mediocre, some excellent--balanced an otherwise pathetic existence. There has been no conscious attempt in this paper to present Thomas as an undiscovered genius. His works and his life have been evaluated for their peculiar merit alone, but a study of those has revealed points hitherto vague and misunderstood as well as forgotten.
As a writer of unmitigated fun, Thomas Hood is hardly excelled. Where he …

This thesis represents research in the general field of emergent evolution. The works of Lloyd Morgan and s. Alexander were studied in particular and the works of others in allied fields were used in a supplementary capacity. It maintains that Morgan offers a unique personal interpretation or the universe. Its purpose is to give an understanding of Morgan'e scheme and to call attention to certain problems within the limits of his theory.

The scientific study of divorce is still in its initial stages. Sociologists have studied the problem and have made great progress in understanding it. Fiction writers, in presenting the problem through the more easily accessible method of the novel have reached and have influenced a greater number of people than have the long and difficult treatises of the scientists.
