Jamaica, one of the many countries of the Commonwealth Caribbean, is known for its rich musical heritage that has made its impact on the international scene. The worldwide recognition of Jamaica's music reflects the creative power of the country's artists and affects many sectors of the island's economy. This has lead to examination and documentation of the musical culture of Jamaica by a number of folklorists and other researchers.
