BePress is such a good platform to publish educational materials and teach people where to watch the NBA Finals Live Stream Online Full Games FREE. Top players of Bucks dodged the crowd of writers that had slipped at focus court, and rather shot additional free tosses and set up a couple of more 3-pointers.

In the wake of shooting a consolidated 23 percent in Game 3, the three players were resolved to play superior to anything they had Sunday, and that implied pressing in some additional redundancies.

A few enhancements were made - Antetokounmpo completed with 25, 13 more than …

Many modern glass and window products are based on metal-dielectric coatings, which can control properties such as thermal emissivity, heat gain, colour, and transparency. These can also enable solar energy harvesting through PV integration, if the glazing structure is purpose-designed, to include luminescent materials and special microstructures. Recently, significant progress has been demonstrated in building integrated transparent solar windows, which are expected to add momentum towards the development of smart cities. These window systems are, at present in 2019, the only type of transparent and clear construction materials capable of providing significant energy savings in buildings, simultaneously with renewable energy …

Application-Specific Oxide-Based And Metal–Dielectric Thin-Film Materials Prepared By Radio Frequency Magnetron Sputtering, Mohammad Nur-E-Alam, Wade Lonsdale, Mikhail Vasiliev, Kamal Alameh

Mikhail Vasiliev

We report on the development of several di#11;erent thin-film functional material systems
prepared by radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering at Edith Cowan University nanofabrication
labs. While focusing on the RF sputtering process optimizations for new or the previously
underexplored material compositions and multilayer structures, we disclose several unforeseen
material properties and behaviours. Among these are an unconventional magnetic hysteresis loop
with an intermediate saturation state observed in garnet trilayers, and an ultrasensitive magnetic
switching behaviour in garnet-oxide composites (GOC).We also report on the unusually high thermal
exposure stability observed in some nanoengineered metal–dielectric multilayers. We communicate
research results related to …

In Pursuit Of Panorama: The Unbound View, Antonio Scontrino, Andreas Luescher

Antonio Scontrino

Panoramic views are accessible through camera phones, mouse cursors, and fingertips to due to developments in digital technology, which also support large-scale and immersive projections. In the early 19th century the desire to release art and paintings from the confines of a frame started a movement which still is alive today. The latest example is Yadegar Asisi’s creation of the ancient city of Pergamon as a 360º panorama in Berlin.  This paper explores the relationship between scenographic design and tectonic architecture with the purpose of creating the illusion of unlimited spatial expanse; it will articulate a specific relational network between …

Initial Field Testing Results From Building-Integrated Solar Energy Harvesting Windows Installation In Perth, Australia, Mikhail Vasiliev, Mohammad Nur-E-Alam, Kamal Alameh

Mikhail Vasiliev

We report on the field testing datasets and performance evaluation results obtained
from a commercial property-based visually-clear solar window installation site in Perth-Australia.
This installation was fitted into a refurbished shopping center entrance porch and showcases the
potential of glass curtain wall-based solar energy harvesting in built environments. In particular,
we focus on photovoltaic (PV) performance characteristics such as the electric power output, specific
yield, day-to-day consistency of peak output power, and the amounts of energy generated and stored
daily. The dependencies of the generated electric power and stored energy on multiple environmental
and geometric parameters are also studied. An …

Let us be mindful of our individual and collective past in order to learn what works and does not work for our individual and collective Well Being.
Let us seek and find ways to experience Joy as a way "to be" in the present for our individual and collective Well Being.
And, let us create and implement Visions for evolving our consciousness in ways that can sustain our individual and collective Well Being.

Shining A Humanistic Light On Racism.Docx

Carroy U "Cuf" Ferguson, Ph.D.

On July 14, 2019, race-linked tweets, filled with racially charged negative rhetoric, began to emerge for a country, the United States, to grapple once more with its past, present, and future.  The tweets were directed toward four duly elected women of color in Congress.  In this light, the phenomenon of racism, yet again, was abruptly made more overt, rather than covert.  Indeed, it is fair to say that the phenomenon of racism is often an "unconscious or veiled phenomenon" for some.

Research: Planning And Provision Of Public Infrastructure. A Case Study Of Drainage Canals In Tema, Ghana.Pdf, Kwadwo Gyan

Kwadwo Gyan

Rapid urbanization is a threat to the efficient and proactive provision of basic urban infrastructure. Nonetheless, existing formal regulations and design standards in Ghanaian cities are often outmoded, too expensive, cumbersome to implement and inconsistent with the incremental urban development practices that are prevalent. In response to this, many urban residents have resorted to self-financing and -provision of their basic infrastructure based on their resource capacities- time, money, and labor. The report explores this situation in Tema, a Ghanaian city with both planned and unplanned neighborhoods, with a focus on its drainage systems. The study addresses the broader question: How …

The Reconstruction Of Haret Hriek: Design Options For Improving The Livability Of The Neighborhood / إعادة إعمار حارة حريك, Mona Fawaz, Marwan Ghandour

Marwan Ghandour

The residential and commercial fabric of the southern suburbs of Beirut was severely damaged by the Israeli war on Lebanon in July and August of 2006. Most of the destruction in Beirut was concentrated within the municipal district of Haret Hreik where about 265 residential, commercial, and office buildings were razed to the ground or severely damaged. The municipality reported that 3,119 housing units and 1,610 commercial units (stores and offices) were completely demolished. In total , at least 20,000 residents of Haret Hreik lost their homes.

The Architect Citizen: The Nature Of Civic Engagement In Postwar Reconstruction Projects In Lebanon, Marwan Ghandour Jul 2019

The Architect Citizen: The Nature Of Civic Engagement In Postwar Reconstruction Projects In Lebanon, Marwan Ghandour

Marwan Ghandour

SOLIDERE, Wa`d, and Nahr elBared Camp are three urban reconstruction projects in Lebanon that targeted neighborhoods destroyed through armed conflict in the 1970-80’s, 2006 and 2007 respectively. Even though these urban areas were produced over decades of multiple social interactions and economic considerations, reconstruction projects regenerates the whole area within contemporary political and social prerogatives, which may diminish the diversity of actors and discourses in the process. Along these lines the three projects illustrate three different approaches for urban production revealing a different relationship between the developer, the architect and the user community. Depending on who one asks, the three …

Representation And Spatial Incorporation Of Iowa, 19th-20th C., Marwan Ghandour Jul 2019

Representation And Spatial Incorporation Of Iowa, 19th-20th C., Marwan Ghandour

Marwan Ghandour

Driving on a highway in Iowa, corn cribs can be seen at a rate of approximately one crib every couple of miles. Corn Cribs are naturally ventilated timber structures used for storing the crop after the harvest. They are seen nowadays un-maintained, left to decay; announcing a dying facility that was replaced with the new storage buildings equipped with automatic temperature and humidity controls. Other than being technologically obsolete, these dilapidating corn cribs also announce the gradual disappearance of a way of life in the American Midwest. A way of life that is associated with the family farm, which is …

The Urban Infrastructure For Sustainability: Learning From Kigali, Marwan Ghandour Jul 2019

The Urban Infrastructure For Sustainability: Learning From Kigali, Marwan Ghandour

Marwan Ghandour

Until 2013, when a new master plan for the city was approved, Kigali had very few urban regulations in place. Incremental constructions, usually associated with informal urbanization, were the norm rather than the exception. Most of the city fabric grew organically creating a unique configuration of urban adjacencies, which would be improbable for planners and designers to imagine. This configuration is particular to the geographic, economic and social conditions of the city as incremental urbanization slowly adjusted to the living conditions, through the actions of thousands of city residents over a long period of time. These actions were formed in …

Production And Reproduction Of Social Space In Iowa, Marwan Ghandour

Marwan Ghandour

This research investigates the relationship between the early mapping and surveys of Iowa in the 19th century and the morphology of the contemporary landscape. A study of the maps of Iowa between 1830's - 1850's was conducted in order to understand the factors that contributed to the quick transformation of the landscape at the time where Iowa was a native territory to become a state within the American Union and the heartland of industrialized agriculture based on family farming. The findings of this historical research became the basis of the AlA funded project, in which a strategy of spatial regeneration …

Spatial Erasure: Reconstruction Projects In Beirut, Marwan Ghandour, Mona Fawaz Jul 2019

Spatial Erasure: Reconstruction Projects In Beirut, Marwan Ghandour, Mona Fawaz

Marwan Ghandour

Often associated with processes of healing, postwar re-construction projects may be less related to the pre-destruction phase than to the actual act of destruction. This, at least, is what the Lebanese case suggests. In this essay, we argue that the spatial erasure initiated by war destruction is consolidated during postwar reconstruction. We developed this argument by analyzing two of the main postwar reconstruction projects that have marked Beirut’s urbanization since the end of its civil war in 1990. The first project, the reconstruction of Beirut’s downtown, was undertaken starting 1994 by a private real-estate company, Solidere [1], extends over …

A college wide, studio-based engineering and design course is used as the mechanism for learning, experimentation, and exploration of the built environment. Student teams part- ner with design professional mentors to create viable solutions for real world projects. Students address architectural, structural, environmental, and construct-ability issues. For the highlighted project, students integrated laboratory research and fundamental engineering principles to develop building designs which recognized current building technology, sustainability, and cultural issues for a polytechnic college in rural Tanzania; then based on the design proposals, constructed a building proto-type. The school motto is “Learn by Doing” and with projects such as …

Developing A Workflow To Integrate Tree Inventory Data Into Urban Energy Models, Farzad Hashemi, Breanna L. Marmur, Ulrike Passe, Janette R. Thompson Jun 2019

Developing A Workflow To Integrate Tree Inventory Data Into Urban Energy Models, Farzad Hashemi, Breanna L. Marmur, Ulrike Passe, Janette R. Thompson

Farzad Hashemi

Building energy simulation is of considerable interest and benefit for architects, engineers, and urban planners. Only recently has it become possible to develop integrated energy models for clusters of buildings in urban areas. Simulating energy consumption of the built environment on a relatively large scale (e.g., such as a neighborhood) will be necessary to obtain more reliable results, since building energy parameters are influenced by characteristics of the nearby environment. Therefore, the construction of a 3-D model of urban built areas with detail of the near-building environment should enhance simulation approaches and provide more accurate results. This paper describes the …

Adapting Vernacular Strategies For The Design Of An Energy Efficient Residential Building In A Hot And Arid Climate: City Of Yazd, Iran, Farzad Hashemi Jun 2019

Adapting Vernacular Strategies For The Design Of An Energy Efficient Residential Building In A Hot And Arid Climate: City Of Yazd, Iran, Farzad Hashemi

Farzad Hashemi

Today, buildings consume a significant amount of primary energy, and consequently they are a major source for greenhouse gas emissions resulting in global warming. During the last decades, the concept of sustainable architecture with the major aim of diminishing negative environmental impact of the building has brought significant demands and changes to the profession of architecture. In this way, decreasing the dependency of buildings on fossil fuels and their high rate of energy consumption in underdeveloped countries like Iran is receiving more attention by architects and governments. Iran is a country with a powerful history in using vernacular solutions to …

Changing Urban Form In A Shrinking City, Justin Hollander, Michael P. Johnson Jr., Rachel B. Drew Jun 2019

Changing Urban Form In A Shrinking City, Justin Hollander, Michael P. Johnson Jr., Rachel B. Drew

Michael P. Johnson

This paper uses building footprint data in a shrinking city, Baltimore, MD, in 1972 and 2010 to achieve two primary research objectives. The first is to understand the historical patterns of housing construction and demolition in selected row house neighborhoods in Baltimore between 1972 and 2010. The second is to understand changes in housing footprints, and associations between these changes and physical and socio-economic characteristics in selected neighborhoods. We find that housing losses and associated changes in building footprints have shown substantial variation across our study area and exhibit clustering within our study area. Moreover, while housing loss is strongly …

Ecofoodway Architectures: Wisdom From The Past; Knowledge For The Future, Sara Khorshidifard

Sara Khorshidifard

Intersections of food and the built environment make an imperative prospective for Environmental Design Research, the two areas between which design can support stronger allyships. This paper evaluates the past and present of this connection to initiate a synthesis on future possibilities of architecture-integrated ecological foodways. Food insecurity today is an acute global challenge, tightly intertwined with such other challenges as climate change, resource scarcity, and rapid urbanization. Project Drawdown 2017 reports the agriculture and food sectors posing largest negative bearings on climate change. Unsustainable practices in food production, distribution, waste, diet, and holistic grazing are responsible for around 8% of …
