The results of archaeological excavation and laboratory analysis of artifacts from the Chauncey G. Webb House Site, Nauvoo, Illinois, are herein reported. The purpose of the report and the history of archaeological investigations at the site are explained. Next is given a brief history of the city of Nauvoo, Chauncey G. Webb and the site using historical records and the pre-Mormon, Mormon, and post-Mormon periods are discussed. This is followed by a description of the site before excavation. The objective of most religious teachings and concepts is to change the student's attitude that desirable behavior may follow. The measurement of attitudes and the way people feel about certain religious concepts are, to an extent, determinative of their behavior. This realization has brought about a steady growth within the educational field of attitude and opinion measurement. It has also influenced religious educators to investigate this field in their efforts to get people to attain desirable religious goals.

The purpose of this investigation and research project has been to discover the answers to certain problems connected with the religious philosophy of the Latter-day Saint people of a given geographical area, through appropriate research methods and procedures. (1) What is the philosophy of religion of these people as it pertains to predestination and fatalism?
