Mitigating Rice Injury Caused By Florpyrauxifen-Benzyl And Optimizing Florpyrauxifen-Benzyl Rate And Timing For Use In Furrow-Irrigated Rice, James Winston Beesinger
Mitigating Rice Injury Caused By Florpyrauxifen-Benzyl And Optimizing Florpyrauxifen-Benzyl Rate And Timing For Use In Furrow-Irrigated Rice, James Winston Beesinger
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Florpyrauxifen-benzyl (synthetic auxin, WSSA Group 4) is a postemergence, broad-spectrum herbicide labeled for use in Mid-South rice (Oryza sativa L.) production. Introduction of florpyrauxifen-benzyl to Arkansas rice production led to observations of varying levels of injury caused by the herbicide across cultivars and environments. Findings from previous research indicated hybrid long-grain rice and medium-grain rice were more susceptible to florpyrauxifen-benzyl and hypotheses were formed using this research regarding the impact of environmental conditions on the amount of injury observed. Concerns of yield loss, delay in maturity and loss of groundcover as well as questions regarding the ability of florpyrauxifen-benzyl to …

Arkansas Soybean Research Studies 2020, Jeremy Ross
Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station Research Series
The 2020 Arkansas Soybean Research Studies includes research reports on topics pertaining to soybean across several disciplines from breeding to post-harvest processing. Research reports contained in this publication may represent preliminary or only data from a single year or limited results; therefore, these results should not be used as a basis for long-term recommendations. Several research reports in this publication will appear in other University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture’s Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station publications. This duplication is the result of the overlap in research coverage between disciplines and our effort to inform Arkansas soybean producers of the research …
Assessing Impacts Of Winter-Hay Feeding On Soil And Forage Nutrient Dynamics In A Rotationally-Grazed Pasture System In Arkansas, Lawrence Gordon Berry Iv
Assessing Impacts Of Winter-Hay Feeding On Soil And Forage Nutrient Dynamics In A Rotationally-Grazed Pasture System In Arkansas, Lawrence Gordon Berry Iv
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
More than 38 % of United States’ rural land area was used for grazing (i.e., pastureland or rangeland) ruminant animals in 2017, constituting the largest private land use group. The expansive nature of these lands means that grazing and pasture management decisions have potential to impact water quality as well as profit margins. As a result, beef producers are under increased pressure from economic and environmental standpoints to limit application of nutrients beyond those required to grow the forage needed for animal consumption. At the same time, a large amount of nutrients is recycled back to pasture systems directly from …
Linkage Mapping For Soybean (Glycine Max) Flood Tolerance, Wade Stiles Hummer
Linkage Mapping For Soybean (Glycine Max) Flood Tolerance, Wade Stiles Hummer
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Flood tolerance in soybean (Glycine max) is not a well-characterized trait, yet flooding damage is second only to drought stress in terms of yield reduction. The objectives of this study were to determine genetic variation for flooding tolerance in two populations of soybean recombinant inbred lines (RILs) and to identify and confirm flood tolerant QTL. Population A (WHA) consisted of 111 RILs derived from the cross 5002T by 91210-350 and Population B (WHB) consisted of 79 RILs from the cross RA-452 by Osage. Experiments were conducted at the Rice Research and Extension Center (RREC) near Stuttgart, AR in 2015 and …
Evaluation Of Soybean Maturity Group And Planting Date In A Soybean-Rice Rotation On Overall Crop Productivity, Carrie Ortel
Evaluation Of Soybean Maturity Group And Planting Date In A Soybean-Rice Rotation On Overall Crop Productivity, Carrie Ortel
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Little is known about the effects of soybean (Glycine max L.) management techniques on soil-nitrogen (N) credit development and its impact on the subsequent rice (Oryza sativa L.) crop’s success. This study was conducted to determine how soybean maturity group (MG) and planting date effect overall soybean productivity and its influence on the following rice crop. Various soybean planting dates (optimum and late) and MGs (3.5, 4.7, 5.4, and 5.6) were grown and followed in rotation with a rice crop. Six rates of pre-flood fertilizer-N (0, 44, 89, 134, 179, 224 kg N ha-1) were applied to the rice crop. …
Soil And Plant Property Differences Among High-Yield Soybean Areas In Arkansas, Taylor Cass Adams
Soil And Plant Property Differences Among High-Yield Soybean Areas In Arkansas, Taylor Cass Adams
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Continued achievement of soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] yields greater than 6719 kg ha-1 (100 bu ac-1) will depend on decreasing the yield gap, which is contingent on gathering more information regarding the soil physical, chemical, and microbiological environment and the main plant factors contributing to high-yield soybean. Therefore, understanding the main factor differences between high- and average-yield areas may provide insight for making management decisions to increase yields. The objectives of this study were i) to evaluate the effects of region and soil depth on soil property differences between high- and average-soybean-yielding areas, ii) to determine which soil properties …
Utilization Of Weed Ecology, Tank Mixtures, And Application Technology To Improve Efficacy Of Herbicide Applications In Soybean, Christopher John Meyer
Utilization Of Weed Ecology, Tank Mixtures, And Application Technology To Improve Efficacy Of Herbicide Applications In Soybean, Christopher John Meyer
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
New herbicide-resistant soybean traits will increase the number of herbicides that can be applied in soybean and change the technology currently used to make herbicide applications in soybean. Palmer amaranth (Amaranthus palmeri) remains one of the most difficult weeds to manage in soybean and thus is the primary focus of this research. Therefore, experiments were conducted to investigate Palmer amaranth temporal emergence, control of common Arkansas weeds with new soybean herbicide programs, and the effect of application technology on dicamba-containing tank mixtures. Palmer amaranth emergence exceeded 400 plants m-2 for tillage treatments in 2013 and 2014, and tillage events typically …
