Poultry litter amendments (LA) are commonly used to maintain good litter quality; the most common ones; are acidifiers. However, concern over the lifespan of LA acidifiers (d) and corrosive nature revealed a need for alternative LA. Products of interest include biochar (BC), superabsorbent polymers (SAPs), and alum mud (AM). As global warming continues to rise, the pressure and growing demand for sustainable animal production is increasing. Livestock naturally produce greenhouse gas emissions through enteric fermentation. Dietary manipulation strategies have been sought out to decrease emissions in ruminants using feed additives.

Two independent finishing feedlot experiments evaluated two types of biochar and its effects on animal performance, carcass characteristics and greenhouse gas emissions. Experiment 1 utilized pistachio shell biochar and experiment 2 utilized biochar sourced from ponderosa pine wood waste, both types included at 1% of the diet DM. This study investigated the efficacy of grapefruit peel (GP) derived biochar materials (two pyrolysis temperatures 450°C and 800°C) as a potential adsorbent to immobilize heavy metal (copper and lead) in a local sandy loam clay soil. A batch adsorption test with heavy metal concentrations at 50 mg L-1, and 100 mg L-1 revealed that soil itself had the highest immobilization percentage compared to the GP biochars. Objective:In order to increase the added value of crayfish by-products.Methods:With chromatographic peaks and peak areas as the inspection indicators, the optimization on equilibrium time, addition of sodium chloride, extraction time and extraction temperature were optimized, and the composition of volatile flavor compounds was analyzed.Results:The optimal extraction conditions were equilibrium time 0 min, extraction temperature 75 ℃, extraction time 50 min, addition of sodium chloride 30% with 50/30 μm DVB/CAR/PDMS solid phase microextraction head. Fall armyworm (FAW), Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) is most destructive specie of genus Spodoptera for several agricultural crops. In Pakistan's Sindh province, the invasive fall armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda was first documented causing serious maize damage in 2019. There is need to develop management strategies against this pest in the country. The current study was conducted to check the toxicity of different insecticides against FAW in maize field. Limited knowledge about how nitrogen (N) dynamics are affected by climate change, weather variability, and crop management is a major barrier to improving the productivity and environmental performance of soybean-based cropping systems. To fill this knowledge gap, we created a systems understanding of agroecosystem N dynamics and quantified the impact of controllable (management) and uncontrollable (weather, climate) factors on N fluxes and soybean yields. Microbial symbionts play a significant role in plant health and stress tolerance. However, few studies exist that address rare species of core-microbiome function during abiotic stress. In the current study, we compared the microbiome composition of succulent dwarf shrub halophyte Zygophyllum qatarensis Hadidi across desert populations. The results showed that rhizospheric and endosphere microbiome greatly varied due to soil texture (sandy and gravel). No specific bacterial amplicon sequence variants were observed in the core-microbiome of bulk soil and rhizosphere, however, bacterial genus Alcaligenes and fungal genus Acidea were abundantly distributed across root and shoot endospheres. The effect of Pseudomonas koreensis IGPEB 17 and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) on plant growth and physiological properties of ginger (Zingiber officinale) in net house conditions was investigated. The experiment included four treatments including P. koreensis IGPEB 17, arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) biofertilizer and combination of P. koreensis IGPEB 17 and AMF treatment. The result indicated that P. koreensis IGPEB 17 had positive effects on plant growth-promoting traits such as P-solubilization, protease, amylase, IAA, and ACC deaminase production. Safflower is a highly valued oilseed crop. Safflower oil is a source of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids which are important for a plurality of industries including the edible vegetable oil industry. Safflower is highly resistant to salinity and drought stress, which impede seed germination. A pot study was conducted to determine the effects of the combination of plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) and biochar on the growth, physiological, and biochemical characteristics of eggplant seedlings under salinity stress. The greenhouse experiment included two salinity levels of NaCl [S0 (0 mM NaCl) and S1 (100 mM NaCl)], three biochar levels [B0 (non-biochar), B1 (5%) and B2 (10%)] and two PGPR [R0 (non-PGPR), R1 (combination of Bacillus megaterium TV-6D, Paenibacillus polymyxa KIN- 37, and Pantoea agglomerans RK92). A pot experiment was conducted to investigate the growth, physiology, and biochemistry of cabbage seedlings in response to salinity stress with biochar. The study was conducted as factorial completely randomized design with two factors; salinity levels (0 and 150 mM NaCl) and biochar doses (weighed at the rate of 0%, 2.5%, and 5% by soil weight).
