Agricultural Development In East Central Florida, East Central Florida Regional Planning Council Staff

City and Regional Planning -- Florida

AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT is one of fourteen reports in the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council's 1965 Research Series. Each report covers a separate aspect of the Region's development and includes the author's projections and recommendations. Thus the fourteen reports constitute a unified, detailed picture of the Region that will serve as a base for both general and special studies over the years to come. As soon as the studies were completed, the Council began the task of evaluating and coordinating the research material in order to evolve a long-range plan for sound development in the Region. The Council's policies and …

Migration Patterns Of Young Adults Reared In Jackson County, Tennessee, Charles Martin Farmer Dec 1967

Migration Patterns Of Young Adults Reared In Jackson County, Tennessee, Charles Martin Farmer

Masters Theses

Most Tennessee counties have experienced a net outmigration of persons in recent decades. For example, net outmigration for Tennessee was over one-fourth of a million persons from 1950 to 1960 or half of the level of natural population increase during this period. During the 1950-60 decade, 86 of the 95 counties had a net outmigration of persons. In 59 counties outmigration was sufficient to result in an aggregate population decline. Counties experiencing greatest population declines are largely rural containing few urban centers.

The questions of who leaves and who stays in low income rural areas and the effects of leaving …

Historical Research Bulletins of the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station

A long-range study of the annual changes in corn borer populations in the North Central States was started in Minnesota, Iowa, Kansas and Nebraska in 1955 and in Missouri and Ohio in 1956. This investigation was a phase of a broader Regional Project, NC-20, entitled "Factors Influencing Corn Borer Populations" and was undertaken to measure by standardized procedures the seasonal changes in abundance of the European corn borer, Ostrinia nubilalis (Hbn.), under cropping procedures in different locations within, the North Central States. Much valuable information has been accumulated on the abundance and effects of various physical and biotic factors on …

An Investigation Of The Colorimeter As A Means Of Evaluating Hydraulic Agitation Of A Wettable Powder Herbicide, Robert B. Wells Jun 1967

An Investigation Of The Colorimeter As A Means Of Evaluating Hydraulic Agitation Of A Wettable Powder Herbicide, Robert B. Wells

Masters Theses

The purpose of this study was to investigate the use of the colorimeter as a means of determining the characteristics of hydraulic agitation of a wettable powder herbicide in a water diluent.

The availability of information concerning the agitation characteristics of a wettable powder would be important value in determining the minimum requirements of the agitation system. The development of this technique would also be of great value in the design of new formulations.

The Impact Of European Economic Integration On Israel's Export Of Oranges In 1970, Moshe Gottlieb May 1967

The Impact Of European Economic Integration On Israel's Export Of Oranges In 1970, Moshe Gottlieb

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

This thesis is an attempt to evaluate quantitatively as well as qualitatively possible future developments in international trade of oranges and tangerines, and the possible impact of these developments on the export of oranges and tangerines by Israel.

After World War II, international trade in oranges and tangerines increased rapidly, mostly as a result of the rapid rise in standards of living and the improvements in diet habits which took place in many countries at that time. These favorable marketing conditions encouraged the planting of new groves in the citrus growing areas of the world and particularly those of the …

A Study Of The Off-Farm Agriculture Occupations Of Millard, Beaver, Iron, And Washington Counties In Utah, To Determine Educational Needs, Thales C. Brown

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

The objectives of this study were to gather information concerning the off-farm agricultural occupations of Millard, Beaver, Iron and Washington Counties.

A list was made of present and anticipated number of employees in these occupations with the numbers involved in full-time, part-time, and female work.

Occupations with similar backgrounds were clustered into four main areas. These were further classified into individual jobs.

Comments were made concerning the competencies needed for entry and satisfactory performance in these occupations.

Some of the characteristics of these occupations as to salary, required experience, labor laws and education requirements were reported.

An attempt was made …

Weber Basin Water Conservancy District: An Economic Appraisal, Dilipsinha C. Pendse May 1967

Weber Basin Water Conservancy District: An Economic Appraisal, Dilipsinha C. Pendse

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

Information on Water Conservancy Districts in Utah was collected by mail and personal visits to district offices. There are a total of 12 districts in Utah, but only five were selling water in 1965. The water development projects of the remaining seven were not finished. Some of the districts are small and consolidation would bring them many advantages of large scale operation.

The success of the Weber Basin Water Conservancy District was evaluated from the point of view of economic efficiency. Insistence on long term contract, adherence to water duty requirements set by the Bureau of Reclamation, inability to sell …

Factors Influencing Meat Consumption In The Home, Cache And Box Elder Counties, Utah, 1965-1966, William Duane Evans May 1967

Factors Influencing Meat Consumption In The Home, Cache And Box Elder Counties, Utah, 1965-1966, William Duane Evans

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

Meat is important in the American diet. Money spent for meat ranks as the largest single item in the family food dollar. Various studies indicate that the proportion of the food dollar spent for meat ranges from 25 to 30 percent. Such foods as dairy products and fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables calculated as separate groups account for a smaller single percentage than meat. Dairy products, the one of next importance to meat, account for approximately 18 percent of the consumer's food dollar.

Simulation As A Technique For Evaluating Water In Competing Uses, Dennis Norman Detray May 1967

Simulation As A Technique For Evaluating Water In Competing Uses, Dennis Norman Detray

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

This thesis is a methodological study of a technique of analysis known as simulation, with special reference to developing economic-cum-hydrologic models of complex real world water resource systems.

It is the eventual goal of this project to develop a complete economic and hydrologic computer model of Cache County, Utah, to further test the applicability of simulation to water resource problems. Although no modeling is carried out, Cache County is used as a foundation for judging the technique within this thesis.

Of the several approaches to simulation which were reviewed, Forrester's (1961) methods, and the use of DYNAMO as a simulation …
