Relationship Between Measures Of Semen Quality And Fertility In Bulls Mated Under Natural Conditions, J. N. Wiltbank, W. W. Rowden, J. E. Ingalls
Relationship Between Measures Of Semen Quality And Fertility In Bulls Mated Under Natural Conditions, J. N. Wiltbank, W. W. Rowden, J. E. Ingalls
Historical Research Bulletins of the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station
An evaluation of the relationship between several measures of semen quality and fertility of bulls mated under natural conditions has been conducted over a three-year period. Semen was collected three different times with an electro-ejaculator from bulls used in the fertility tests. Collections were made at weekly intervals. Fertility was evaluated by mating bulls to heifers starting about three days after the last collection. Semen quality refers to the percent abnormals and the percent motility evaluated at the time of collection. Fertility was measured by the proportion of heifers that settled at natural service. Several multiple regression equations were calculated. …

B637: Reducing The Frequency Of Home Delivery Of Milk, Homer Metzger, James H. Clarke
B637: Reducing The Frequency Of Home Delivery Of Milk, Homer Metzger, James H. Clarke
Bulletins
Home delivery of milk is faced with rising costs and price competition from stores. To remain in business the retail route operator must sell more product per customer or provide a minimum amount of service for customers. This report is concerned with the feasibility of providing a minimum amount of service through reducing the frequency of delivery on home delivery routes. Information on experience with and attitudes toward reduced delivery was obtained by personal and mail interviews from distributors in the northeast and from households in Kentucky, Maine and West Virginia during the period 1960 to 1963.This study is a …
Grain Banks In South Dakota, Harlan J. Dirks
Grain Banks In South Dakota, Harlan J. Dirks
Agricultural Experiment Station Agricultural Economics Pamphlets (1941-1991)
Grain banking is a relatively new feed merchandising technique being used by country elevators in South Dakota. In simple terms, grain banking is any kind of an arrangement whereby farmers deposit feed grain at the elevator, and later withdraw it in one form or another, generally as mixed feed. Many country elevators have shown interest in grain banking as a means of utilizing surplus storage capacity and expanding services offered to farmers. Because of this interest, information is needed to guide elevator managers in developing more efficient and uniform methods of grain banking. This study obtained information about the operating …

Present and potential fruit farmers are asking the question, "How much do I have invested in an acre of fruit by the time the trees are old enough to produce a paying crop?" or "How much would I have to invest to bring an acre of young trees into production?" Sometimes the question is "How much do trees add to the value of bare land?" or "How much value must I depreciate my trees each year to recover my investment by the time their productive life has passed?"

Pakistan came into existence on August 14, 1947, by the partitioning of what was British India. The basis for the division was the desire of the Moslem population of India to form a sovereign state. Since the country was established in the sections of India which were predominantly Moslem, Pakistan emerged in the form of two blocks, East and West Pakistan. They are two provinces separated from each other by over 1000 miles.

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023
Throughout the history of mankind there always have been famines, disease, and poverty in some parts of the world, and this has been because of economic under - development to a great extent. For nearly a century after the publication of Adam Smith's "Wealth of Nations" in 1776, economic development was the main interest of economists . In the late nineteenth century, Europe, America, and Australia were developing rapidly and few people were interested in raising the incomes of Africans, Arabs, and Asians . Most of the countries in Africa and Asia were under European colonial rule, and being so, …

Managing Change In The Livestock Industry Of South Dakota: Papers Presented At The Fourth Annual Agri-Business Day 1965, South Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station, Department Of Economics, South Dakota State University
Agricultural Experiment Station Agricultural Economics Pamphlets (1941-1991)
It is appropriate that the annual agri-business day program address itself to the current status and future potential of South Dakota's largest industry, the meat animal business. The 1965 program is the fourth in a series designed to probe opportunities for increased economic development of human and physical resources in our state. If maximum development is to take place, we must study every resource, discuss it, and then determine how we might harness it to fit man's social, cultural, and economic goals. South Dakota State University is proud of its long tradition of helping individuals and groups solve problems. But …

Profit Maximizing Farm Plans For Farms In Southeastern Nebraska: By Type And Size Of Farm, M. D. Skold, A. W. Epp, H. W. Hughes
Profit Maximizing Farm Plans For Farms In Southeastern Nebraska: By Type And Size Of Farm, M. D. Skold, A. W. Epp, H. W. Hughes
Historical Research Bulletins of the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station
There are many forces operating in today's agricultural economy which cause farmers to examine carefully their patterns of resource allocation. Rising production costs coupled with downward tendencies in product prices focuses attention on efficient patterns of resource allocation. Technical change and changing resource and product price relationships affect efficient resource allocation patterns. This study considers possible efficient farm organizations available to farmers in southeastern Nebraska with given resources. The study determines profit maximizing farm plans for farm classes with different complements of resources and at alternative product price levels. Both crop and livestock enterprises are considered. Investment activities that generate …

Irrigation And Fertilization Practices For Seed Production From Established Stands Of Side-Oats Grama, D. E. Smika, L. C. Newell
Historical Research Bulletins of the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station
The objectives of this study of grass seed production were to determine the response of an established stand of a warm-season grass to irrigation and fertilizer practices with regard to the specific practices needed to produce maximum quantity of adequate quality seed per acre. Side-oats grama was chosen for the study because of the availability of adapted varieties.

Sources of combined resistance to spotted alfalfa and pea aphids were found in Ranger alfalfa and its parental strains, foreign plant introductions, clones and their progenies. Ranger alfalfa appeared to be a good source for selection of plants with resistance to both aphids.
