Optimization On Extraction Technology Of Bacteriostatic Extract From Indocalamus Leaves And Its Bacteriostatic Test, Liu Liping, Xu Peng, Lei Xiaohong, Wang Ning, Yang Bing

Food and Machinery

Objective:To study and optimize the extraction technology of bacteriostatic extract from Indocalamus leaves. Methods:The extracts were drawn from Indocalamus leaves by ultrasound-assisted, refluxing and immersing method with extraction solvents: water, ethyl acetate, pH 4 of hydrochloric acid solution, pH 4 of acetic acid solution, pH 10 of ammonia solution and different volume ratio ethyl alcohol. The tests were carried out to analyze the antimicrobial effects with indicator bacteria Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Shigella Dysenteriae and Salmonella typhi and the total bacteriostatic circle was as inspection indicator, to find out the best extraction solvent and the best …

Inhibitory Effect Of Sea Cucumber Coelomic Fluid Extracts On White Shrimp Autolysis, Nie Bin, Li Ao-Ting, Cui Xiao-Fan, Du Yi-Nan, Yan Jia-Nan, Wu Hai-Tao Jul 2022

Inhibitory Effect Of Sea Cucumber Coelomic Fluid Extracts On White Shrimp Autolysis, Nie Bin, Li Ao-Ting, Cui Xiao-Fan, Du Yi-Nan, Yan Jia-Nan, Wu Hai-Tao

Food and Machinery

Objective:In this paper, the inhibition of protein degradation in autolysis of white shrimp (Penaeus vannamei) surimi by extracts from the coelomic fluid of sea cucumber (Stichopus japonicus), a by-product of sea cucumber processing, was studied. Methods:The protein degradation in autolysis of white shrimp was studied by SDS-PAGE assay. Furthermore, the effect of sea cucumber coelomic fluid and its extracts on white shrimp protein degradation was determined by SDS-PAGE and TCA-soluble oligopeptide assay. Results:The optimal conditions of white shrimp autolysis were incubation at pH 3.0, 50 ℃ for 2 h. The bond intensities of myosin heavy chain around …

Study On Antioxidant Activity Of Extracts From Different Polar Solvents Of Extract Of Fermented Soya Beans, Liu Jun-Ze, Hu Li-Ming, Wang Ren-Guang, Wang Shu-Min, Wang Huan Jul 2022

Study On Antioxidant Activity Of Extracts From Different Polar Solvents Of Extract Of Fermented Soya Beans, Liu Jun-Ze, Hu Li-Ming, Wang Ren-Guang, Wang Shu-Min, Wang Huan

Food and Machinery

Objective:To explore the difference in composition and antioxidant activity of crude extracts of fermented soya beans with different solvent extracts.Methods:70% ethanol was used the extraction solvent, the fermented soya beans powder was extracted by ultrasonic method. After the solvent was evaporated, the crude extract was obtained. The crude extract was dispersed in water and extracted with petroleum ether, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, and n-butanol in turn to obtain different solvent extracts. The colorimetry was used to determine the content of total flavonoids and total polysaccharides in crude extracts and different solvent extracts, HPLC was used to determine the …

Transposable Elements In Fusarium Oxysporum & Growth Inhibition Of Fusarium Oxysporum Using Pepper Extracts, Taylor Aguiar Jul 2018

Transposable Elements In Fusarium Oxysporum & Growth Inhibition Of Fusarium Oxysporum Using Pepper Extracts, Taylor Aguiar

Masters Theses

The following contains two projects focused on the fungal pathogen, Fusarium oxysporum. The first project was purely computational in the examination of transposable elements (TEs), which are mobile sequences with the ability to multiply and move in their host genome. In F. oxysporum, TEs such as miniature impala elements are associated with the secreted in xylem gene that are related to its virulence over its host. The F. oxysporum species complex can be utilized as a model system for the examination of TE content and TE expression during the infection cycle. To find whether TEs play a role …

Switchgrass Extractives Have Potential As A Value-Added Antimicrobial Against Plant Pathogens And Foodborne Pathogens, Alexander Ian Bruce Dec 2016

Switchgrass Extractives Have Potential As A Value-Added Antimicrobial Against Plant Pathogens And Foodborne Pathogens, Alexander Ian Bruce

Masters Theses

Panicum virgatum (switchgrass), a perennial grass native to North America, is a leading biomass feedstock candidate for the manufacture of cellulosic ethanol. Switchgrass is considered a viable option for biofuel production due to its cheap production cost and ability to grow on marginal land. Biofuel derived from switchgrass has been shown to be very energy efficient, producing 540% more renewable energy versus nonrenewable energy expended. Switchgrass-derived biofuel is also estimated to have greenhouse gas emissions that are 94% lower than emissions from gasoline (Schmer et al 2008). Biofuels are created through biochemical processes that utilize various enzymes and microorganisms for …

Total Phenolic Contents, Antioxidant And Antimicrobial Activities Of Bruguiera Gymnorrhiza, Rosna Binti Mat Taha Jan 2011

Total Phenolic Contents, Antioxidant And Antimicrobial Activities Of Bruguiera Gymnorrhiza, Rosna Binti Mat Taha

Rosna Binti Mat Taha

In the present work, the antioxidant and antibacterial activities of methanolic, ethanolic and chloroform crude extract of leaves and barks of Bruguiera gymnorrhiza were investigated. The antioxidant activity of the crude extracts were evaluated using the enzymatic and non enzymatic methods namely superoxide dismutase determination, reducing power assay and 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazil free radical scavenging assays. Folin-ciocalteu reagent method was used to estimate the amount of total phenolic compounds of the extracts. Ethanol extract of barks showed the best result in all antioxidant assays which was positively co-related with the total phenolic contents. There was no significant difference between the IC(50) …
