Stress experienced by astronauts during high-level hazardous situations may poses risk to personnel wellbeing and to mission success. Stress inoculation training (SIT) provides individuals with experience of minor stressors and coping skills during non-critical times to enhance their resistance to stress. This study evaluates the effect of exposure to a low level stressor on physiological response and cognitive load in high level stressor setting. A Nonconvex Splitting Method For Symmetric Nonnegative Matrix Factorization: Convergence Analysis And Optimality, Songtao Lu, Mingyi Hong, Zhengdao Wang

Symmetric nonnegative matrix factorization (SymNMF) has important applications in data analytics problems such as document clustering, community detection, and image segmentation. In this paper, we propose a novel nonconvex variable splitting method for solving SymNMF. The proposed algorithm is guaranteed to converge to the set of Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) points of the nonconvex SymNMF problem. Furthermore, it achieves a global sublinear convergence rate. We also show that the algorithm can be efficiently implemented in parallel. Further, sufficient conditions are provided that guarantee the global and local optimality of the obtained solutions. Barilla is an international producer of pasta with locations in nine different countries. The production facility we are working with is located in Ames, Iowa. They produce around 140,000 tons of pasta per year.

The problem Barilla is having is pasta is being spilled somewhere during the process of moving along conveyors and buckets while being transported from production to the storage silos. The problem was that assembly of the table took far too long to be feasible for a production run of multiple units. Our group is working to create a modular hydraulic test bench. This mobile bench will has improvements over current test benches through the use of a modular base frame and specifically design add-on features. Our mobile bench impliments several key design features including: a drip pan, forklift support, adjustable back wheels to provide improved center of gravity to reduce tipping hazard, a handle for ease of moving, and an adjustable drawer attachment.
