Data Driven And Machine Learning Based Modeling And Predictive Control Of Combustion At Reactivity Controlled Compression Ignition Engines, Behrouz Khoshbakht Irdmousa

Dissertations, Master's Theses and Master's Reports

Reactivity Controlled Compression Ignition (RCCI) engines operates has capacity to provide higher thermal efficiency, lower particular matter (PM), and lower oxides of nitrogen (NOx) emissions compared to conventional diesel combustion (CDC) operation. Achieving these benefits is difficult since real-time optimal control of RCCI engines is challenging during transient operation. To overcome these challenges, data-driven machine learning based control-oriented models are developed in this study. These models are developed based on Linear Parameter-Varying (LPV) modeling approach and input-output based Kernelized Canonical Correlation Analysis (KCCA) approach. The developed dynamic models are used to predict combustion timing (CA50), indicated mean effective pressure (IMEP), …

Investigation Of Software Defined Radio And Deep Learning For Ground Penetrating Radar, Yan Zhang 2024 University of Vermont

Investigation Of Software Defined Radio And Deep Learning For Ground Penetrating Radar, Yan Zhang

Graduate College Dissertations and Theses

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is a non-invasive geophysical method that uses radar pulses to image the subsurface. This technology is widely used to detect and map subsurface structures, utilities, and features without the need for physical excavation. Traditional GPR systems, which rely on fixed radio frequency electronics like Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs), have significant limitations in their flexibility and adaptability. Adjusting operational parameters such as waveform, frequency, and modulation schemes is challenging, which is crucial for tailoring performance to specific tasks or conditions. The considerable size and weight of these systems restrict their applicability in harsh or confined spaces where …

Complete Solution Of The Lady In The Lake Scenario, Alexander Von Moll, Meir Pachter 2024 Air Force Research Laboratory

Complete Solution Of The Lady In The Lake Scenario, Alexander Von Moll, Meir Pachter

Faculty Publications

In the Lady in the Lake scenario, a mobile agent, L, is pitted against an agent, M, who is constrained to move along the perimeter of a circle. L is assumed to begin inside the circle and wishes to escape to the perimeter with some finite angular separation from M at the perimeter. This scenario has, in the past, been formulated as a zero-sum differential game wherein L seeks to maximize terminal separation and M seeks to minimize it. Its solution is well-known. However, there is a large portion of the state space for which the canonical solution does not …

We Experimentally Demonstrate the Various Intermodal and Intramodal Four-Wave Mixing Processes in a Few-Mode Fiber with Three Modes using Non-Degenerate Pumps. We Distinguish the Processes by Calculating their Phase Mismatch and Identify the Intermodal Spontaneous Four-Wave Mixing Process that Generates Entangled Photon Pairs in Various Modes. We Achieve This using Continuous-Wave Beams and the Seeding Technique Due to the Low Efficiency of the Spontaneous Four-Wave Mixing Effect in the Fiber. We Seeded the Stokes and Anti-Stokes Waves and Measured the Spectral Content of Each Mode While Moving the Seed Away from the Perfect Phase-Matched Condition in the Fiber under Test. …

Modified Thermographic Signal-To-Noise Ratio For Active Microwave Thermography, Logan M. Wilcox, Kristen M. Donnell 2024 Missouri University of Science and Technology

Modified Thermographic Signal-To-Noise Ratio For Active Microwave Thermography, Logan M. Wilcox, Kristen M. Donnell

Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Research & Creative Works

Active microwave thermography (AMT) is an active thermographic nondestructive testing and evaluation (NDT&E) technique that utilizes an active electromagnetic-based excitation. This excitation is achieved through a radiating antenna and is spatially nonuniform in nature. As such, the electromagnetically-induced heat is also spatially nonuniform, as it is directly related to the radiated power density incident on the specimen under test (SUT). After excitation, infrared measurements on the surface of the SUT are completed using an infrared camera. Common post processing techniques including thermal contrast (TC) and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) are often applied to these measured results. As these post processing techniques …

Chemical Technology, Control and Management

The article examines the dynamic characteristics of the mechanical circuit of the developed induction vibration transducer. It is found that in the investigated transducers forced oscillations occur with the frequency of the input disturbing force, the amplitude of forced oscillations does not depend on the initial conditions and time, and in forced oscillations with damping there is always a shift of the oscillation phase compared to the phase of the input disturbing force. It is shown that the induction vibration transducer reproduces the measured vibrations with small distortions only in a relatively narrow frequency region at frequencies of the input …

Improvement Of Calorimetric Quality Analyzers For Substances, Makhfuza Azimovna Radjabova

Chemical Technology, Control and Management

It is noted that the development of intelligent means of measuring qualitative indices is of topical importance. Since the quality of many substances is determined by optical methods, an algorithm for spectrophotometric data processing has been developed, which consists of primary data processing (stage I) and determination of qualitative indices of liquid products (stage II). Since the task of numerical determination of colour characteristics of transmittance coefficients of liquid samples is incorrectly set, it is recommended to use regularization methods of A.N.Tikhonov to improve metrological characteristics of the device. On the basis of regularization methods for solving incorrect problems, algorithms …

Algorithms For Synthesis Of Adaptive Control Systems With A Customized Model Using The Speed Gradient Method, Jasur Sevinov, Oxunjon Boborayimov

Chemical Technology, Control and Management

Algorithms are considered for the synthesis of adaptive control systems with a customized model based on the speed gradient method. For the synthesis of adaptive control systems, the identification approach is based on obtaining estimates of the unknown parameters in the object. By calculating the speed gradient, identification algorithms with an explicit and implicit customized model were obtained as well as that in sliding modes. A joint solution is given to the interrelated problems of identifying parameters with insufficient current information. The position of an object is about assessing the state with insufficient a priori information about its parameters. This …
