Sub-Bandgap Photon-Assisted Electron Trapping And Detrapping In Algan/Gan Heterostructure Field-Effect Transistors, Andrew Gunn
All Theses
We have investigated photon-assisted trapping and detrapping of electrons injected from the gate under negative bias in a heterostructure field-effect transistor (HFET). The electron injection rate from the gate was found to be dramatically affected by sub-bandgap laser illumination. The trapped electrons reduced the two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) density at the AlGaN/GaN heterointerface but could also be emitted from their trap states by sub-bandgap photons, leading to a recovery of 2DEG density. The trapping and detrapping dynamics were found to be strongly dependent on the wavelength and focal position of the laser, as well as the gate bias stress time …

Effective Torque Ripple Reduction Of Permanent Magnet Brushless Dc Motor, Vishwanath S Nemagoud Mr., Kusumika Krori Dutta Mrs
International Journal of Electronics Signals and Systems
To reduce commutation torque ripple, a model predictive control (MPC) for permanent brushless DC motors (BLDCM) is presented (CTR). Torque ripples cause vibration noise and decrease efficiency. The suggested MPC system is constructed by forecasting the phase current with the aim of minimizing the BLDCM's CTR and taking into consideration the CTR sources. The method presented in this paper is a unique methodology for suppressing CTR over the whole speed range, avoids more complex current controllers or modulation models, and overcomes the challenges of commutated-phase-current control. The ideal switching state is instantly selected and implemented during the next sample period …

To lower costs associated with providing cloud resources, a network manager would like to estimate how busy the servers will be in the near future. This is a necessary input in deciding whether to scale up or down computing requirements. We formulate the problem of estimating cloud computational requirements as an integrated framework comprising of a learning and an action stage. In the learning stage, we use Machine Learning (ML) models to predict the video Quality of Delivery (QoD) metric for cloud-hosted servers and use the knowledge gained from the process to make resource management decisions during the action stage. …
