Factors Affecting Dimensional Precision Of Consumer 3d Printing, 2015 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
Factors Affecting Dimensional Precision Of Consumer 3d Printing, David D. Hernandez
International Journal of Aviation, Aeronautics, and Aerospace
This paper investigates the factors affecting dimensional precision of consumer-grade 3D printing, attempting to isolate and mitigate sources of error. The focus is on creating engineering prototypes of, tooling for, or finalized instances of mechanical devices. A specific fused deposition modeling printer – the Ultimaker 2 – is analyzed in terms of meeting precise physical dimensions, consistent shapes, and predictable surface finish. Extensive trial and error resulted in removal of several sources of bias, with square test articles exhibiting a lower-than-anticipated mean percentage error of -0.387% (SD = 0.559), a value comparable to other modern manufacturing techniques. Examining Social Desirability Bias In Measures Of Financial Behavior, 2015 Illinois State University
Examining Social Desirability Bias In Measures Of Financial Behavior, Nicole L. Kelly
Theses and Dissertations
Surveys that investigate the financial lives of consumers consist of direct questions about financial behavior, with college students being a heavily surveyed and convenient sample (Gutter 2013). However, the subjective nature of survey data is not bias-free, indicated by the presence of disparities between the respondents' reported and actual behavior. Due to the fact that many students begin to acquire loans, establish credit, and initiate saving behaviors in college, it is important that we have a complete understanding the financial behavior of college students.
The goal of this study was to investigate the role of socially desirable responding (SDR) in …

Does The Format Of Internal Control Disclosures Matter? An Experimental Investigation Of Nonprofessional Investor Behavior, 2015 University of South Florida
Does The Format Of Internal Control Disclosures Matter? An Experimental Investigation Of Nonprofessional Investor Behavior, Amanuel Fekade Tadesse
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
This study investigates whether the current lack of structure of internal control weakness disclosures (a narrative about the reliability of the financial reporting system) leads nonprofessional investors to make differential investment decisions. Using the non-accelerated filer (smaller public company) setting, where nonprofessional investors are likely to consume unaudited internal control reports in their investing judgments and decisions, I examine two facets of internal control disclosure formats: presentation salience and disaggregation of material weaknesses. A 2 x 2 between-participants behavioral experiment was conducted with internal control presentation salience (bulleted vs. in-text) and disaggregation level (a single material weakness vs. a combination …

Information Technology & Sustainability: An Empirical Study Of The Value Of The Building Automation System, Daphne Marie Simmonds
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
This study examines the environmental and economic effects of green information technology (IT). Green IT describes two sets of IT innovations: one set includes innovations that are implemented to reduce the environmental impact of IT services in organizations; and the other IT to reduce the environmental impact of other organizational processes. The two sets respond to the call for more environmentally friendly or “greener” organizational processes.
I developed and tested a preliminary model. The model applied the resource based view (RBV) of the firm (Wernerfelt 1984) the stakeholder theory (Freeman 1984) and included four constructs: (1) BAS implementation; environmental …
Essays On The Impact Of Ceo Gender On Corporate Policies And Outcomes, 2015 University of South Florida
Essays On The Impact Of Ceo Gender On Corporate Policies And Outcomes, Nilesh Sah
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
In the first essay I examine the cash policies of female-led firms. Recent research finds that female CEOs eschew riskier corporate policies, but it makes contradicting claims whether this is due to risk aversion. Benchmarking risk aversion by the management of firms’ cash, I find that female CEOs are risk averse relative to male CEOs. Specifically, they hold significantly (18%) more cash, even for the same level of dividend payout as male CEOs. Further, they have significantly higher speed of adjustment for cash deficits, are more likely to use excess cash to increase dividends, but are equally likely to use …
