The goal of this thesis is to demonstrate the connection between word and action in relation to the media incited genocide. By employing the operational definitions of intent, incitement, genocide, and hate speech from legal texts such as the Genocide Convention and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, this thesis shows that there is suitable jurisprudence on the crime of direct and public incitement to genocide with the legal bodies statute mirrors the language of the Genocide Convention. This in conjunction with the language gradient on the changing role of messages before and during genocide shows that regulation …

Finding Aids
WLBZ began as a "hobby" radio station in 1921. Regular broadcasting began in 1922. The first official licensed broadcast was made from a chicken coop on December 30, 1926 in Dover-Foxcroft. The station moved to Bangor and was purchased by Acton Communications in 1978 and became WACZ. In 1983, the station became WZON when it was acquired by Stephen and Tabitha King.
The collection includes administrative and marketing-related documents dated 1926 through the 1970s. Photographs and publications also document the station's history. A bulk of the records are station traffic logs dating 1931-1957, providing information about programming, promotions, music, and …

The rise and success of podcasting introduced episodic storytelling in the world of non-fiction sound narrative. Delivering a story in different entries is very different from producing a one-off piece. What concrete implications does this have for the narrative? In order to draw attention to the numerous social and economic plights facing indigenous populations, a group of Native American protesters occupied Alcatraz Island from November 1969 to June 1971. Throughout the nineteen months of occupation, protesters received much attention from the media. While in theory this coverage may have been beneficial, the media presented the story in a largely negative and inaccurate light. Upon review of the literature, it becomes evident that the media used racist and poor journalistic practices to diminish the protest.
