University And Community College Administrators’ Perceptions Of The Transfer Process For Underrepresented Students: Analysis Of Policy And Practice, Ruth C. Slotnick

This study describes and explains purposefully selected university and community college administrators' perceptions of the Florida statewide articulation agreement and the resulting institutional practices as they pertain to underrepresented transfer students. The theoretical framework that undergirds this dissertation is three-fold: social constructivism, philosophical hermeneutics, and interpretive policy analysis (Yanow, 2000). In particular, the local level knowledge consisting of six university and six community college administrators (also referred to as policy implementers), was assessed through face-to-face interviews, document analysis, and field notes. The Life History And Energy Budget Of Hippocampus Erectus In Tampa Bay, Florida, Nicole M. Dunham

Seahorses, genus Hippocampus erectus, are subject to large and continuously-growing international trade. Concerns with the effects of trade on seahorse population worldwide have led to their international protection by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). In order to manage seahorse populations, we first need to understand their basic biology. The purpose of this project was to establish an energy budget for Hippocampus erectus from Tampa Bay, Florida. A total of 108 specimens were collected throughout Tampa Bay from 2004 to 2007 using 21.3 m offshore seines and 6.1 m otter trawls. …

Biographical Note
Frank P. Wood was born in 1949 in Sanford, Maine. His father was Lawrence Wood, a farm machinery salesman, and his mother was Arlene Wood, a secretary and college administrator. He became interested in politics at an early age, working on campaigns throughout the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. He served in the Maine legislature from 1977 to 1985, serving on the Taxation and Agriculture committees.

Passive Acoustic Studies Of Estuarine Fish Populations Of Southwest Florida, James Vincent Locascio

Recordings of fish sound production were made in Charlotte Harbor, Florida using Long Term Acoustic Recording Systems (LARS) programmed to record 10 seconds of sound every 10 minutes. Results demonstrated a strong circadian pattern in fish sound production that occurred within a few hours of dusk each evening. Sound production lasted on average 8.7 hrs each evening during the peak spawning season. LARS were deployed when Hurricane Charley crossed Charlotte Harbor in August, 2004. The hurricane did not inhibit nightly chorusing events of spawning fish. Rather, sound levels produced by spawning fish on the night of and 3 days after …
